Seems like wanting everyone else to run the way you'd like is a bit much to ask. It's prob frustrating that nothing beats closing speed (not even a fast pace from the gun beats it most times since that also fatigues the pace setter more than the person behind them.)

Rabbits in races can be so valuable to creating fast time and exciting action. "Jog and kick" American women races are all too common.

If NOP asked for a fast rabbit then didn't go with it shame on them. What a waste. Rather than waste months of training Ina "jog and kick" at least Coburn has the jewels enough to take over and bust out a decent pace. Give Emma credit.

Emma, like every other runner, let Mary dictate the race from the get go.

I know Emma Coburn and have run with her. You will not find a sweeter person. She is a very dedicated athlete. I find her interview to be totally open and honest. I think she is right.

The stupidity on this board is astounding. Because she doesn't think she is in 4:20 shape! If NOP has full control of the rabbit's splits and they are too fast for you, guess what you do? You don't go out with the rabbit. It's also probably the reason why nobody else went with the rabbit either.

I would be pissed off too. She had no say in the rabbit's pace and the 2 runners who had 100% of the control decided not to follow the rabbit. Good for her for calling them out.

Emma saw this Wannamaker mile as her chance to get a PR. She, like all of the runners and the fans, were expecting Mary to go after a record or at least improve on her time. Their strategy from the get-go was to follow Mary - actually hang on - and have her pull them through some fast times.

Mary is not obliged to accomodate. She also has her agenda for the indoor season and going all-out in this race did not fit into her overall plan.

Well if that's the case and she had a monopoly on the rabbit's splits, then she should have had AlSal tell the rabbit to dial back the pace. It's bush league to be the one to tell the rabbit to run 4:20 pace and then just use the rabbit as a decoy.
