The diamond league doesn't include all the events at a meet. So there will be a 10k at that meet but it just won't be part of the 'diamond race'.

I find this the most telling post on this thread.

People are making comments and labelling Farah's ability and place in the Pantheon of distance greats, by comparing his pbs with the WR's in his events.

These WR's, 7:20, 12:37, 26:17, were all set by athletes in an era when there was no test for EPO, or else before the test became effective. However you look at it, they were almost certainly doped.

Now Farah gets enough accusations on here, mainly as part of the NOP and because of his improvements late in his career, for being doped. He also gets criticised for not being good enough to break 'tainted' WRs. Yet you can guarantee, if he were to go out and break one of them, this site would overflow with even more accusations that he too must be 'doped to the gills', I think the favourite expression is on here.

So he can't win.

What those at the other end of the spectrum, those who claim he can break or at least threaten those existing times, also choose to ignore, is the fact that Mo has stated categorically, in an interview with Alastair Campbell in a recent issue of British GQ, is that he doesn't believe he can break those World records. He has said that the 5000m is beyond his reach.

Why don't we listen to what the athletes actually say about their ability!? They surely know more about what they can or can't do than someone sitting at home plugging numbers into a calculator.

Of course Farah's current pbs are not a true reflection of his peak ability. We know this because he has never used his best form to chase records, but rather to win titles. something which he has been very good at, and something which has meant he has beaten many athletes with superior pbs.
