I've said it before: Kam will smoke a brit. If Cardiff proved anything is that he and Karoki are on a different level of fitness compared to Mo. Also, he FELL and still managed to drop Mo early despite having to work so hard to catch up.

Cardiff proved that Kamworor and Karoki are much better at the half marathon than Mo.

I think mo's time at the top has passed. Though, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Sport England's figure are a joke. SE love to include Parkrun in their figures to justify their supposed success. The reality is that athletics is a declining sport in the UK. Bicourt nails the position right here:

Tim is right is his contention about the competitive element of Park Runs (but only for a small minority maybe 5-10%, the rest are just content to go around the course jogging at a comfortable pace. Some with their dog or even pushing their young child in a buggy, as I think someone else pointed out elsewhere) One of my sons and some others I coach have all competitively done Park Run. One has given the field 2mins start and still finished 2nd!

Park Runs are quite obviously and without challenge a good thing for the general public for all the reasons we know………BUT, it has next to nothing to do with the sport of athletics anymore than leisure cyclists or leisure swimmers have anything to do with improving cycling and swimming as competitive sports and contributes not one iota to improving standards within the competitive sport as regarded by the public and the media.

Chris Jones’s statement is a wholly incongruous use of the word athletics……………

It’s made a huge difference to the number of people going out, running, jogging or walking (as many do) around a park or common for fun and presumably fitness., but that’s all. Not one of them could or would call themselves an athlete, (who was not one already). If each “participant” was asked, “what sport do you do” I venture that none would say athletics (Tim and a handful of others, excepted) They would say they go running. Or I run. How many would claim to be an athlete or doing athletics?

The absurdity of this convenient con by Sport England to claim increases in participation in the sport, is in the use of the word “athletics”. It’s a cover all but ignores completely the athletics track and field clubs, counties, areas and nationally organised official competition structure together with their voluntary coaches and officials which as we all know (you too Tim) is in serious decline in coaches, officials, in-depth standards and the junior (over 16’s) and senior age groups.

A quick google shows his pb to be 13:12 set in New York? Do you have a link to the Nairobi race Ventolin? (Genuine question, not trying to rip you here)

The only race I recall like that was the Trials, and the times weren't what you listed. Given how slam-dunk wrong you were last week with your comments (in another Kamworor thread) about Songok crushing Kenenisa, I'm guessing you're wrong in this one too.

Reminds me of what they said of Viren before '76.If a bunch of Kenyans decide to jog 24 laps as usual Mo won't have any trouble at all.

Yes, except Viren did less between Olympics than Mo, losing to many so called "lesser runners". Maybe he had his training cycles right? Or his PED cycles right! Anyways, I agree with you.

In the heats of the Trials (Chammpionships)?? Because earlier you said ...

said Kamwo's Nairobi 13'12 where he slaughtered isiah by 11s was worth an ~ 12'50 at sea-level & I doubt he had any pacers for it, making it considerably faster if he had

this was not the trials but a regular meet ....

And when he ran 13:13.28 he beat Koech by way more than 11 seconds. Results show Koech ran 13:35.14.

Farah can still win medal in rio just wait for the diamond league series for you to conclude, I have personaly raced kamworor who is the top runner in kenya over the 10k since am a kenyan and he lacks finishing kick also his 1500 time is slower compered to farah, but farah managed 59:59 which shows his endurance is great.
