2:04:35 for Hicks holy smokes. 23 seconds faster than Hall ran on this course. Hyped to see him balling in the marathon now after a pretty lowkey couple years post-Stanford. Wow.
Hall ran in old Asics Gel Hyper Speeds, so chop a minute-plus off Hicks' time for a true comparison.
I bought this ASICS racing shoes as my “prize” for finishing the 2009 Los Angeles Marathon in May of same year. I think I bought it through On Line/Internet with a cheaper price as it …
Lokedi ran a 4:35 mile 24. Hopefully the AIU is on standby.
Even if she gets popped she will be allowed to keep the money. Still don’t understand how that works.
How are you going to get the money back when it's on the other side of the world? Western governments aren't going to throw their weight around for $50k.

They should charge the national federation if the athlete doesn’t pay it back. Give them some incentive to police their own better.

I think maybe their ban lasts until they give the money back.
They can choose to be banned for life if they want.
Just incredible to see how much weather affects this race. Pro men are all way faster than last year. Top 3 crush the CR. Top 6 all ran faster than #1 last year. And the weather was pretty good last year! Prepare yourself for lots of hobby jogger bragging on Strava.
McLain up to 6th at mile 24. 20 seconds back of 5th.
Announcers said American women's CR at Boston is 2:22:02, and McClain currently on 2:21:24 pace. The amazing speed of the leaders may hide the fact that she is having a great day (as are the other top American women; Frisbie on 2:22:14 pace).
Jess McClain has arguably one of the most frustrating career stories. 4th at trials and healthy in Paris only to sit out so O’Keefe could limp over the start line to have Olympian attached to her name. Led off course and missed getting much deserved credit for crushing US half marathon champs. Today running a stellar marathon only to get her doors blown off by finishes “too good to be true”. The fact that she still keeps showing up and being consistently awesome is a testament to her character. She has had to absorb some disheartening circumstances.
Yes, Shalane from 2014, 2:22.02 - Emma Bates, 2:22.10, 2023 - Desiree Davila (not Linden yet), 2:22.38, 2011, and of course, Joan Benoit, 2:22.43 (winner), 1983, before McClain was born. I might be missing someone.
Boston is not an easy course at all compared to Chicago. I think the tailwind was the bigger factor here
It's not eligible for any records no matter what. And if you've ever been to Chicago you know how the wind is there.
I've run Chicago once and Boston 5 times. Boston is not easy at all. I'm not saying it should count as a record but like I said, the times are more comparable than you think other than maybe the tailwind today. There's a reason why Boston has much slower times on average than flat courses.
