He's been pretty awful the entire day. Attempted jokes that fell flat or were just incredibly awkward. Trying way too hard to fit 'fun' words in. Starting sentences without really knowing where they're going, but then realizing it sounds kind of bad (like low-grade offensive) and trying to save it without breaking the flow.
