I never said he would hit the World Record. Just implying he could run faster than 3:27.95

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this his 1500m season opener?
How many 1500m runners would expect to run their fastest time in the first race of the season?
I always thought you needed a few races to sharpen up for the middle-distances.
You're corrected. Jakob opened up in Rabat a few weeks ago.

That was class. Not surprised but you can tell that time meant a lot to him. When he is at his best, no one can beat him, at least no one right now this year !!!
Ummm..... you ever heard of Cole Hocker?
.The fastest 1500 ever so early in the season. Before this race the best run in june was Morceli in 1996, the 28th: 3.29.50. And Jakob normally is very good in planning his season. That taken into account it would be surprising if this ends up being his best this season. But you never know, you know. 3.26 is still a very long shot
Lasted a month.

Don't waste your time. They'll throw every accusation before admitting their heros got dropped.
Please bump this thread every time he lowers his PB!!

Jacob is an absolute superstar. Best track runner imo.

Really? Yes Lagat won that double but was never a dominant runner like El G or Jakob. He won that double just because of the slow paces at that WC due to extreme heat. He was an amazing athlete don’t get me wrong, but not at the level of Jakob.
This post has not dated well.

Just look at hundreds of people cope too soon.
Cope that quick and you only show you know!
4 tenths in 3 years, that's the facts Jack. Not a breakthrough. Might stay in that neighborhood a while longer, but a plateau is basically same as a peak.
LOL. GO home devastated, over a second faster. 3:26.73

I don't think there's a clear favorite. Imo:
Jakob 3:27.95 <<< Lagat 3:26.34 although that could change soon.
Jakob 12:48 > Lagat 12:53 but only by a bit with the spike advantage. Jakob could go faster but Lagat could've too.
Jakob 1500 Oly Gold, WC Silver x 2 < Lagat 1500 Oly Bronze, Silver, WC Gold, Bronze. Pretty even but I give Lagat the nod for tougher competition.
Jakob 5000 WC Gold <<< Lagat 5000 WC Gold, Silver x 2, 3000i Gold x 2, WC Silver x 1, and Oly 4th and 5th at 36 and 41 is Lagat for indoor dominance and longevity (note: Jakob made his first WC team in the steeple at age 16!).
Jakob 2 x WR >> Lagat with 0 WRs. Pretty easily Jakob.
Jakob with Norwegian NRs << Lagat with Kenyan and American NRs. Lagat's 1500 record stood for like 17 years, and he has (had?) records in 2 countries.
Jakob could absolutely surpass him, but I don't think he has yet. A 1500/mile WR or successfully doubling this year would probably be enough to change that, but he still has to prove he can do that.
WTF. This post is G A R B A G E.
Jakob holds 3 WORLD RECORDS and 1 WORLD BEST. HE IS THE ONLY MAN IN HISTORY TO GO 3:26, 7:17, 12:48. IN FACT, IF YOU ADD UP THESE THREE EVENT TIMES, THE ONLY MAN "FASTER" THAN HIM IS DANIEL KOMEN. JAKOB ONLY NEEDS TO RUN 3 SECONDS FASTER IN THE 5K AND HE IS THE FASTEST 1500m-5k RUNNER IN HISTORY! IN ALL OF HUMANKIND
JAKOB 1500m Plus 5000m Olympic Champion, That COMPLETELY throws him into another level over lagat. Plus tougher competition? WTF. Jakob's competition: 12:36 Gebriwhet, 12:38 Kejelcha, 12:40 and 7:21 Aregawi, 12:35 Cheptegei. 3:27 Josh Kerr, 3:27 Yared Nuguse, 3:27 Cole Hocker.
Gimme a BREAK!
