The Kenyans are probably clean. I am not conspiracy theorist.

The best argument is simply that none are close to the times

3000-10000 is the optimum range for EPO

the rise and fall of track distance times between 1994 and 2006 correlated very closely with the rise and fall of major EPO usage

I agree entirely.

Once again, the Kenyans have more people that grow up hungry and end up with small-boned skinny frames as a result.

Even the poorest Americans grow up eating better than a Kenyan so they end up with big-boned frames that they sometimes artificially keep skinny, like Galen Rupp.

That's all there is to it. More naturally skinny people = more fast distance runners. It really is that simple.

Hey genetics/ethnicity "experts," how come now East African woman has come close to running 2:15 yet? Suddenly environment and motivation matters, doesn't it.

Fast track times co-incided with all the money and glory being acheived by running fast track times. Fast road times co-incides with all the money and glory beung acheived by running fast road times. There are very few Kenyan's currently training for 5 and 10000 track races (relatively speaking) and very many training for marathons. The motivation is currently in favour of road running

They don't have to yet. Women in general have been happy to compete at a level appropriate for 20-30 years ago.

First, no one has said environment and motivation don't matter. What we have said is that a group of athletes can have the best possible environment and motivation and still not be world class without superior genetics (talent).

Paula Radcliffe is what's called an outlier... a data point that is well outside the norm. Where are the other great UK women marathoners?

A closer look at the top 25 women marathon times in history supports genetics as a primary factor in marathon performance.

Some women appear multiple times in the 25 best marathon times in history, so we have 18 women with the top 25 times. The nationality of those women are:

6 Kenyan

3 Ethiopian

3 Japanese

2 Chinese

1 Great Britain

1 USA

1 German

1 Russian

So, 9 of the top 18 women marathoners in the world have been East African.
