New WR
1st sub 2:03
at one point was 49 seconds ahead of WR but slowed down the last few km
Emmanuel Mutai second in 2:03:14
mind blowing.
what's next? i'll ask the question everyone's thinking. when will 2:00 be broken?
It seems like sub 2 is not impossible now. We're talking what..maybe 900 meters from accomplishing that feat?
Incredible.
They certainly made Bekele's job in Chicago tough. Loved when they asked Kimetto after if he could run even faster? No hesitation to say, yes. BTW, perhaps I am different than others, but I keep hearing perfect conditions, and I don't quite see it. No wind, not hot, but the first two guys head was very, very sweaty during the last ten min. I would think they a few degrees cooler would be the ideal weather.
no, the weather was near perfect. they had 8º celsius at the start.
not sure about the temperature towards the end, but certainly not more than 12 degrees I guess
Actually it was a little warmer:
11 degrees at the start and 15 at the finish but almost zero wind.
(see e.g.
http://de.windfinder.com/report/air/berlin-tegel
).
Very good conditions but for most runners a bit to warm.
1010 meters.

It´s still 3 min minutes away. That´s an eternity.

How many world records have been set in Berlin?
great run, sadly I couldn't watch the run on TV live.
It would be nice to hear Mr. R. Canova's opinion about
this marathon.
"Not normal." "Superhuman." We heard this all before in another sport. Not surprising Kipsang and Kimetto train together under the same manager (volare sports) and get advise form Canova. In kenya people get a reputation depending on the europeans with which they work and when they're performances burst onto the running scene from seemingly no where.
I can't believe no one has talked about the course being short. I had a friend run it on the tangents and his GPS watch showed it was 150m short.

Holy crap. I wish I got to watch this.
GPS is not an accurate measurement method.

GPS usually measures long, not short.
Nobody who matters cares about a GPS watch measurement.
lol...you must be new here or have absolutely no clue what sarcasm is.

GPS measurements are for hobby-joggers.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
