Not surprised to see Popehn up there pushing a bit. But she's been beat by her teammate Frisbie in the last couple of marathons. Frisbie probably deserves more attention then she gets, just pretty much goes about here business quietly.
If you could get 3000 people who actually watch and enjoy the wheelchair races outside of friends, family adn people involved in wheelchair racing id accept the broadcast. but i think that's not possible
The problem I have is that the broadcast of the wheelchairs is at the expense of the running broadcast. We have missed key points of several races now because they spend such long segments.
Also, grating to listen to Kara tells us what other people are thinking and feeling. Wish she could just call the race and not project her thoughts and feelings onto the runners.

The woman who just won the wheelchair race has 1,900 followers on Instagram. That's what the average college kid has. I don't think there's more than 500ish people in the entire world who are tuning in to watch.
I would actually genuinely be interested in getting some insight from network folks or whoever it is that could speak to why they get so much airtime, though I'm guessing I won't get that in this thread lol.
ESPN tries to cater to people who don't follow the sport regularly, and in the process they alienate those who do.
100% spot on, you can give a little bit of split coverage maybe to wheelchairs, but time and time again we miss major moves for the pro men and woman's races
What I'd love to see is both ESPN and ESPN2 cover the major marathons. ESPN gets the "main" coverage, i.e. what ESPN2 does now. ESPN2 shows the running race, split screen men/women.
