My team and I really want to qualify for state. if we even have a shot i need to do my part.
Beginning of the season I ran 5k 17:34, but I just haven't put things together the rest of the season in races. I have had a lot of solid workouts, I just think I show up to races kind of tired and psyche myself out. I would need to be probably 16:40-50 to get to state looking at our district rankings. Did 4 mile repeats last week averaging about 5:30 (not on track) with 3 minutes rest, felt surprisingly comfortable. Other workouts show I have a shot (though it might be a long one). I have got 1.5 weeks till districts, and I'll be as disciplined as a monk to get somewhere near a time like that if that is what is takes (districts course is flat and fast) --- I just want to say I put in my best effort between now and next Friday to not let the rest of the guys down .
Anyone else made big jumps at the very end of the season?
Get lots of sleep between now and next Friday?
I know I have been tired generally throughout the season, legs not fresh for any meets except maybe that first one.
Eat extra vegetables?
Lose a pound or two -- probably to late (I am 5 foot 8 inches and 145 lb) ?
seriously, I am open to advice.
Even if I fail I just want to put myself in the best position possible for my team next Friday.
Thank you very much!
