Yeah it’s pretty tough to show up for a race that hasn’t happened yet.
Just letting you know.
Nice job to the OP who knew Windle wasn't running. If you've got inside info please post or email wejo@letsrun.com

I know it's a crazy cconcept and all, but you could always contact Windle or his coach. You get more and more lazy every year.
Danny Mackey (Windle's Coach) txted us (Jon Gault):
Nothing acute, so it’s tough to articulate, but he’s just super worn down.
I know he just won Portland but he looked off, then Monday in his Pre-race my gut was telling me to pull him.
I just wanted to protect him from getting sick or hurt.
He’s taking this week off and will hopefully get in a few diamond leagues
Nope. Sorry Danny but Diamond League Meets do not present as much PRESS for Brooks as a National Title. If you allow your athletes to be soft then do not be surprised when it plays out that way in the Oly Trials.
Missed opportunity for Brooks.
I believe that USATFs is the only outdoor Meet this year that an athlete has to navigate rounds. This is a lost learning experience for both Windle and Brazier.
He's made the last two US World teams, so he has the rounds things pretty well mastered. Also the six DII titles.
He peaked for indoor and got a World silver medal out of it. That's pretty good publicity. I'm sure Josh Kerr noticed.
It's called peaking for a reason. If you find yourself on the down side, you can't just fight it by act of will.
Windle wasn't hitting his times in practice and the coach knew he was off. That's his job.
Weak Argument.
So why did he run Portland last week?
Why is he planning to run Diamond League Meets later this year?
The Brooks Beasts have had about 8 athletes entered between the 800 and 1500. One guy (Yorks) advanced with a 3rd place. Another rough Nationals.
