Ten years ago I left my D1 team after months trying to rehab a knee injury. Unfortunately the injury has never gone away. What I was experiencing at the time was pain, but more than anything the injury would escalate to where my knee would feel highly unstable, sometimes even locking on me and causing me to fall. Just below the knee cap is where I experienced pain/instability and I can also feel a popping/grating on the outside of my knee.
I almost always "Feel" my knee. It's never felt right again. I've tried to make a few running comebacks, just very easy running a few days a week, but after a few months it all flares up again, except now it feels like my whole leg is out of whack/tension. Ten years later, I'm finally ready to get over this. Here's what I experience now:
My pain begins in my hamstring and on the side of my leg. After a few weeks my lower back, hamstring, hip and knee all start hurting. The pain even works its way down to the inside of my ankle and the bottom of my foot. My hip and my knee feel unstable and achy. In general, my whole lag feels out of what. Strangely, the pain is never when I'm running (I do experience the feeling of instability when running), but the pain begins when I later sit down or lay in bed, I feel the achy throbbing.
Anyway, thanks if you made it this far. What I really need advice on is what kind of doctor/practitioner do you recommend seeing? Sport Medicine doctor, chiropractor, physical therapist, Occupational therapist, or someone else?
