I can see SIU cutting Men's indoor track to help balance out the Title IX numbers. Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track count as separate sports when they calculate Title IX numbers so if they just need to reduce 25-30 men they would get rid of Men's indoor but keep outdoor. Also depends on what sports the conference requires them to have in the bylaws. Or they do what some other programs have done where they cut men's track but keep cross country to both reduce the budget and balance Title IX numbers. Either way a giant budget deficit in the athletic department is not something you want to hear about when you are a track coach at a football school. Especially when the only other men's sports at SIU are Football, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, and Swimming & Dive. I could see them cut men's golf, then put roster limits on men's track and swimming / diving to balance out the Title IX numbers.
