Recently, I've gotten into a habit of eating a protein bar after almost every run. Roughly 20g protein, 2-5g of sugar. Is this bad or good?
-for reference, I'm on the more underweight side for a runner & don't have all that much muscle

Food is food and matters little when you eat it.
Don't be afraid to eat, ever. If it helps you get calories in, then I suppose it's fine. It depends on your fitness goals too. Personally, I run 45-50 miles a week, mile type training too, strength training twice a week, ride my bike 4 miles 5x/wk, and work a manual labor job 25-30 hours a week. I don't eat protein bars, but I'm a huge fan of CLIF Energy Bars (10g Protein a bar) and eat like 4-6 a day. I've got that 4,000 calorie metabolism going on.
If you're already working out and being very active then your protein needs will be higher than if you weren't active. If you're already eating plentiful amounts of wholesome nutritious foods and still feel an urge for something more then energy or protein bars usually hits the spot.
What is your training like anyways? Thanks for reading.
To be brash, doesn't the pooping annoy you? I eat less than you and have a slower metabolism (including activity), more like ~3,200 cal/day, but I just hate the feeling of constantly being gassy and having to go.
