10,000 bucks doesn't hurt on the happiness factor for his little "jog".
Wow. So an easy $10K is there for any of those 29:00 10 km guys or better yet B-team 2:14 marathoners who want to go out and jog along a bit in front of Zach and Hayden and get the W? LOL
LOL .. I love how the LR "I'm an elite 5k dude" gang pretend that they don't get ultra running is different from wailing around a track for 10 minutes.
don't let niggas know it

Sage is doing fine, hates are gonna hate.
The guy has put in too many races this year and needs a reset. The dude literally won an ultra like a week or 2 ago and has run multiple 50-100s and a 2:19 marathon in the last year, lay off his nuts people.
Umm, has he actually finished a single 100 mile race yet? I don't get why people think he's relevant or knowledgeable anymore. He was at his best when he very first started trail racing. He was doing plenty of miles to dominate 50 mile trail races, and he wasn't doing them slowly. He had harder workouts and he therefore had a lot of strength. He just isn't the same runner anymore. The best case argument you could make for him is that his very best races over the last year or two are close to on par with his first few outings, but even that is a stretch. What is certain is that he absolutely hasn't improved at trail running since he switched over. What is also certain is that he posts and talks in a way in which he sells himself as the fountainhead of knowledge for training for these races. He's faster than virtually all of us posting here, but it's becoming clear that he doesn't really know what he's doing. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, but considering how annoying he is with sponsor plugs, I just don't care. Everyone doing what he does has sponsors, and only he manages to seem that sleazy in promoting them.
Oh, sorry, I had forgotten (genuinely) that he had finished Western States. He blew up so badly that I honestly had forgotten that it wasn't a DNF.

So you also "forgot" that he just WON the United States Trail Marathon Championship a few weeks ago beating Joe Gray?
He came second.Azerya won the race.It wasn't an ultra race.
how convenient...... wrote:

I didn't say he won the race. I said he won the Championship. The winner of the race was not eligible.
Also the poster said this "I don't get why people think he's relevant or knowledgeable anymore."
I would argue that winning a national championship (and qualifying for the WMRA Long Distance Mountain Running Championships) does make you relevant.
I never said it was an "ultra". It was a "trail" race though and OBVIOUSLY different than a road marathon.
i hate to say this, but what he did is really difficult/impressive. i run those trails and am a 2:29 marathoner, and i don't think i could even get close to this timetry it man, it doesn't seem impressive, but it's tough'

I love the phrases Sage uses such as "EPO testing in ultras is rare…like never"…"blah blah... leg strength…lactate threshold….lots of climbing…for sure"…"I bonked bad and got beat by 40 minutes at TNF. Zach Miller had time to eat a relaxed lunch before I finished…bummer... this sucks…"
For sure.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
