Rono seems to be getting fitter. He did much better in Chattanooga than he did in Louisville. I think that they may have a chance. Cheruiyot would obviously need to also step it up.
Middle Tennessee is presently ranked lower than they should.

I say UTEP by a field goal.
Also, google "UTEP Handy"
It was warm and sunny in Chattanooga yesterday. Seemed to me that MT basically ran a tempo rather than digging themselves a hole by traveling. I give them the edge.
...also Mattelong seems to be coming along pretty well. He could surprise at C USA by being the 5th man ahead of Cheruiyot.
The question is now, can #29 Middle Tennessee beat #21 UTEP at C USA?
Because Rono has been improving every week and Matelong is now up there with Amos Cheruiyot as the #5 runner, I think they can do it.
Rono did not as well as he should and Matelong tanked.
UTEP won 24 to 36.
Let's see if Rono can step it up at Regionals.
However, with Koech's return, UTEP is way better than what they showed at Pre Nationals.
Had Koech not been there (was he injured in the last month?), Middle Tennessee would have won...

Mmm... How did you enjoy the US men distance team at the Olympics last summer? Did you have any interest?
