I can run a 17:45 5K but I am heavy and struggle with Achilles/Calf pain and other legs pains. What is a good supportive shoe?

The running shoe industry is now saying that even 190 lb dudes don't need support, just wear whatever feels good.
Hi Fart Lasso:
I am 6'5" 250lbs and was until recently a high-milage treadmill runner.
I would recommend Asics Sendai, Kinsei, Kayanos or Mizunos.
Buy shows with MAXIMUM cushioning and then pop in your custom inserts or store bought inserts for added support.
You need to remember that the average shoe is built for people who weight 20lbs less than you currently weigh.
Do not run in racing flats (do not be a weight-weenie).
Get a deep tissue massage on your legs; ask specifically for the massage therapist to work on your ankles, calves, the backs of your knee, and hamstrings. (Active release or Graston may be better but I would advise to start smaller and work your way up).
DO NOT STRECH in the morning but later on in the day when you are warmer and looser.
Last thing:
No running in the morning. Save your runs for the afternoon or night.
I hope this helps.
