I don't want to start ripping him yet but I actually had a conversation with Larry Rawson about how when you are a commentator, you get ripped on LetsRun.com.
I didn't think he's initial posts were great. He ignored all of the African runners and only talked about the Americans. I thought he should have said, "All of the expected big guns from Africa are up there but without rabbits the pace is slow and it's good to see the Americans like Cabada, etc up there."

Any idea why some of the elites were wearing black tape over the sponsors logo on the singlets?

He sounds like he is out of breath or having trouble talking for some reason?

Apparently there are. I didn't realize it myself but the race is also on Universal Sports. I know Larry Rawson is doing coverage. It must be for Universal.
I had a long talk with him for the first time ever. He was very much aware of the LRC criticism and approached me as he wanted know what he thought he was about. We had a good talk and it's clear he wants to do a good job and help the sport grow.
I told him I hadn't listened to him much lately as I've been at a lot of the events and said I'd think about it and get back to him with an email.
But I said that most people feel he dumbs down the sport. "Go to your high school track." he said he hadn't used the phrase in years and it's clear that he really wants to help the sport grow but explaining it to the casual sports fan.

so... kibet? is he really a contender?
Kibet making a break for it
So Elkanah Kibet (current men's leader) owns PBs of 28:26 and 64:01. This is his marathon debut.
Tim Hutchings called his decision to move "extremely rash" and I agree. There's no way he keeps this up.
Men's Race

5k: 15:30
19:53 (unofficial) at 4 miles.
~24:50 for main pack at 5 miles. kibet about 10 seconds up. Kibet unofficial 441 mile.
Has anyone besides me that perhaps Kibet's employers at the Army told him to get in the lead and give them some free add time.
