What an ass
Extradite.
Honestly hunting for sport just seems so stupid to me. The only way it's justified is in over populations situations where it is regulated. Or in invasive species situations.
Guy is obviously a big douche, seems like he's compensating for something.
I wonder who received / what was done with the 35,000 pounds. That is a lot of money. Did it go to conservancy or did it just grease some palms?

Agreed. And further, what this guy is doing isn't really even hunting. He's basically just paying to go into a situation where animals walk right up to him so that he can kill them. Really no different than walking into a zoo, opening fire, and declaring yourself a "big game hunter."

He justifies it as hunting because he uses a bow & has to get closer to the animal than if someone killed it with a gun. I read some other article where he's well known for boasting that he's killed the most exotic animals by bow. Thing is, he had a whole team of hunters with him who were also shooting this lion with arrows. So ya, real big game hunter who lures a lion away from a park with food & then has 10 guys help him shoot it down.
I hope he gets the worst punishment, but I have a feeling he knows his way around the laws pretty well.
As a punishment, how about he spend 1 week in the lions habitat with no water, food and covered in impala blood.
That's fair

Well, if we followed the big game hunter/Walter Palmers method we'd do it like this. Lure Palmer out of his home at night time. Shoot Palmer with an arrow or 2. Follow & watch him stumble around in pain for 40 hours until he becomes too weak to walk. Then skin him, behead him, & his 2 sons are left to die. Then, Palmer's head is put on a trophy wall & boasts are made.

"His killers lured him out of the park at night shot him with arrows, stalked him for 40 hours as he weakened from his injuries, then skinned and beheaded him and left his corpse to rot in the wilderness. His six cubs will probably now die, too, as rival males take the opportunity to force their mothers to mate again."

Found the vegan!
Found the illiterate!
Positive Contribution wasn't criticizing hunting for food, just hunting for the sake of killing.

Cracked me up thanks "Read yo "
Why would a male lion's cubs die? Do the male lions take care of the young? As an aside, do all of the people in an uproar on this subject get so tuned up in hearing that their tax dollars are going to partially support harvesting of organs for profit from murdered babies? What say you? Equal vitriol?
He shot it with a crossbow. Because he is not skilled, the lion survived for 40 hours. They then shot it with a rifle and tried to destroy the GPS collar that was on it's neck (they were unsuccessful).Calling this guy a "hunter" is grossly inaccurate.

Babies were already dead. Male lion was not.
Babys' insides are not going to waste. Male lion's insides are.

Cecil protected his mate. Now a new male will come in & kill the 6 cubs to encourage the female to mate with him.
Unfortunately we can\'t make your scenarios happen, but in a feeding frenzy that would make letsrun proud, shortly after his identity was outed his office is closed with the blinds closed. The office Facebook, Yelp and voicemail have been inundated with people expressing their disgust along with some scary stuff.
This tough guy his family and business have a rough road in front of them.
I can\'t imagine a more despicable person, letting this magnificent animal suffer then discarding it like it was nothing.
He deserves al l he is going to get.

The dominant male lion takes care of the family unit / pride. Once killed, roaming males or subalphas in the pride fight for dominance and the winner asserts control of the pride. Once in control, the dominant male will seek and kill all cubs not his to bring the females into estrus and thus have an opportunity to mate and reproduce with the females in his dominion.
So yes, I can assure you his cubs did not survive.
