Back in high school I ran at the Nike north side south side challenge, which began 2.62 miles back from the finish of the Chicago marathon. We ran in on marathon Sunday, our race going off as the marathon went off. It was pretty cold the second year I did it (junior and senior years) but each year we got shoes, new warmups, new shorts and singlet, and a backpack. Overall a great experience.
7.1 miles
3.106856 miles.
Near me there's a 13.1 mile race every year. There was already a local 20km race, which makes perfect sense, so maybe they just wanted to do something a little different. I can't think of any other reason for a race of such a stupid arbitrary distance.
Dayton WA has race on Memorial Day where the official distance is 3.83 miles via one complete loop.
I was thinking of getting a "3.83" bumper sticker just to impress people.
1600 meters
11 miler as the shorter distance option at an event that also hosts a marathon.
I used to do a summer series in which the courses had all been laid out by a cop in his car. When they were measured accurately, they were all like 6.8 miles and 8.4 miles and 9.6 miles. In deference to the course records, rather than round hem up to 7 miles or 10 miles, they've kept them just as they are.
There's a 6.66 M race called the "Devil's Chase" in Salem, MA. Will be held on Halloween this year.
The JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is 3.5 miles. It's really annoying.

1500m are/were weird. Lets run around the track 3 and 3/4 times.
1600m is natural: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m.... 1600m.
I did the Imogene Pass Run a few years ago in Colorado. 17.1 miles or something like that, from Ouray to Telluride, going up and over 13,200' Imogene Pass.
Breathtaking in more ways than one... :)
I saw Duane Solomon race a 725m race
Basically any trail race...most of them have "organic" distances, which might be near something you've heard of but are basically decided by the trails.
(A lot of them call themselves whatever "normal" distance theirs is close to...like an 11.8-mile trail "half-marathon" or a 48.1-mile "50 miler".)
I've seen a handful of different places do a "pi mile" (instead of a 5k)...
3.14 miles. Weird and gimmicky.
The shirt said 26.2 miles, but I really only ran 2.4 or 2.5. I don't remember where I parked.
Wintah Challenge: "A 4.06 mile course boasting sprawling urban vistas and a modernized gift tag/iphone app timing system that won't disappoint."
3100 miles.

What is the most stupid running advice you've ever heard?🤣(It can be funny)
Are Asics, Saucony, and New Balance envious of Brooks, Hoka ,and On?
