This is a personal best for the 20 year old who has run 3:30.31. He won the race here and is certainly a medal threat at 1500m.

Garret Heath ran a seasonal best of 3:36.43 to get 4th in the 1500 in Sollentuna.
big surprise for me
( what was his 800pb ? )
aren't we "told" "pure" 1500 guys can't run fast 800 of it ???
you have to be a 800 guy initially to run a fast 1500 - latter never happens ??!!?!!
Suleiman's previous pb was 1:45.42, which was run 12 days ago in Goteborg. Yeah, I think this is the most surprising result of the day.
Octo-mom?
Suleiman's 1:45.42 was a Djibouti national record, and he shatters his own NR by 1.79 seconds here.
i'll come back
i can't see how he ran 1'43 of maybe 1st serious run but bernie is 1'46 & hicham 1'47 is claimed to be their actual likely ability in their 3'26 days ?!
not your fight
i can start another topic, but this is as good as any to continue, once acknowledging the kid has a damn good chance of win in expected moscow 1500 ( maloofi didn't look good in eugene )
Well as you know, Hicham and Lagat were both capable of faster 800m times, with Hicham obviously able to run 1:43xx or faster, and Lagat probably just a tad slower.
As for Suleiman, he is probably in 3:29 shape and should be considered a real threat to medal along with Makhloufi, possibly Kiprop and perhaps another who would be a bit of a surprise.

Can't bring yourself to say Centro???

eh ???
this kid just run 1'43.6 & he's a 3'30er & you offer hicham 1'43xx & bernie who was more like noah in speed a 1'43xx + ???
i see the "lesson" of nijel 1'47.2 TO 1'41.7 in 1y1m has been thouroughly digested...

IF you could read with comprehension, I noted 1:43 or faster for Hicham, and Bernie just a tad slower than Hicham. Can you understand what that means? It does NOT mean 1:43 as the absolute limit for either of them. Learn to read.
don't offer me rubbish of better than 1'43+ for hicham or 1'43++ for bernie, who likely had quicker 400 speed but worse endurance
give me some +/-0.1s estimates for 800

Well, that is great but since nobody can ever prove you wrong (i.e., neither of these can run this mythical 800m), you might as well be chasing the wind.
Hi, I'm a neutral observer, but weren't you the first one to claim that they could run 1:42? You said "1:43.xx or faster", no?

Who has said any of that?
In the WC 1500 final, unless you are doped up and/or way-way better than everyone else, it has a lot to do with handling pressure, managing the rounds and running the right race in the finals. Everyone has to learn that, even El'G. Being a 1:43x 800m guy is a nice tool to have, but it is not necessary, a 1:45x guy can run a 3:30 1500m, wish is more than fast enough. They don't give medals the athlete with the best 800m or 1500m PR, everyone in the final is capable of 3:32, but usually it only takes a 3:34 to win. It helps to have a good racing brain and avoid mistakes, the 1500m Olympic champ is one of few times I have seen an athlete make multiple mistakes and still win, but he appeared to have superhuman strength.
utter drivel
you posted crap
i asked you for hicham's 800
i wan't a number !

In other words, when pinned to the wall and shown clear and irrefutable evidence that you were wrong, you change the subject to one which allows for speculation about a retired athlete's potential, which is by definition not capable of being refuted by reality.

i asked you how fast hicham for 800 ??
you offer nothing

He is putting together quite a nice season, and as you say is clearly a significant medal contender.
Big question mark for me now is what is up with Mak-Daddy and will he round into any sort of form. I would kill to see a race between the now back in form Kiprop and London Makhloufi.
