Is breaking bad worth watching?

Only The Wire is a better show on TV. Breaking Bad is excellent. The best part is that the writers decided on a finite run for the show. So, things actually happen.

Absolutely. You must start with episode one, just in case you were debating just picking up a random episode for a test run. Best show on TV.

After Breaking Bad, Justified is the next best thing on right now.

The Netflix original series House of Cards is well done, too, although a bit cut-throaty for me. But if you're a Thrones watcher, it's probably right up your alley.

and yes, i've also heard that BB is good, but i haven't watched it.

OP, it starts off great and by the last 10 episodes or so you inevitably lose interest, it just gets so repetitive sort of like the walking dead.

I hardly ever watch TV anymore other than news, sports and the occasional movie rental. But thanks to my son and Netflix I got hooked on Breaking Bad back in January. Watched all four seasons in about a week while off work. It's gritty and hardcore and the best show on TV, IMO. Excellent writing, great acting, plot twists, awesome soundtrack. My only regret is not hearing about it sooner and missing the first part of season 5, but like I said I'm kind of tuned out to TV shows.

Oh, and Anna Gunn is hot.

I think it is the second best show I have ever seen. The only show better is The Sopranos.

Though...I have found parts to be very upsetting and hard to watch. Without giving much away, as a father of young kids I have a very hard time seeing children in bad situations.

It's good by the standards of modern TV series, but it's not worth watching. TV shows are pointless. They're basically movies that drag on for hundreds of hours.

I heard the rave reviews about BB and gave it a try. Watched the pilot and the first episode. I guess I just didn't get it because I couldn't see what all the acclaim was about.

However, I am thoroughly enjoying Justified. I'm about half way through the second season and looking forward to more.

I think we're starting from the assumption that the OP generally enjoys television shows. He probably wouldn't have asked the question if he didn't.

Agreed on "House of Cards" - excellent imho. Acting and writing are superb. Would strongly recommend.
