Agreed, however it would cause no harm if someone knows how to look up and verify a medical license

Another detail: the Sandy Springs Half Marathon results says it was held at Hammond Park. Google maps show this park to be about 200 yards x 200 yards at most!

This is reaching a bit since most races just start at the park and they don't actually run there. This is a plausible location for the race.

let's prove he cheated/made up races before we start saying he isn't actually a dentist. Don't let this get out of control.

I've just written the local Jackson, WY newspaper and asked a source if there was a West WY Marathon held in Jackson on July 3, 2010 and, if so, what could he tell me about it.
Haven't heard back yet but I did a little search on the Jackson Hole News and Guide site and found:
http://www.jhnewsandguide.com/article.php?art_id=627. At the bottom of the story on the 6/26 HALF marathon, there is speculation about the POSSIBILITY of a marathon returning to Jackson. I would conclude from that there's no way a marathon was held there a week later. But I'm waiting for further info from the Jackson newspaper source.
This thread is the most entertaining thing on the internet. Better than porn.
The limited info on WWM says that it was a double out and back course with 3 water stops. Props to anyone that can run a 2:56 at altitude with minimal aid.
The only people that would run that race would be a few locals and 50 staters. That's how the Turtle Marathon in Roswell, NM was. Similar in size, NM & WY are tough states to get, and aid was minimal.
Kip was definitely in the Jackson Hole area for that 'race'. There are pictures of him and family at Yellowstone during that week.
You know there's only been about a dozen people to pull a sub-3 at a marathon in Wyoming. Could that have had something to do with his incentive to make one up?

I don't think they'd be closing Hammond drive or Glenridge for a couple dozen people to run a half,. Those are major thouroughfares. I think it's established that those are fake races
Please do not post Kip's dental information on the messageboard. Claims of harassment have been aired and if someone wants to look that up they can but we don't want it here.
I just e-mailed the 'course director' for the Sandy Springs race to see if I can get any additional information. The subject of my e-mail was simply that I'm a local, competitive runner interested in learning more about the race and possibly helping promote the race among the competitive running community here in Atlanta. I'll post her response here should I receive it.
However, the Chattahoochee running club is based out of Sandy Springs and promotes basically every race in and around Sandy Springs. They have no mention of this race anywhere on their website. Plus, I know a few guys who run for them and they have never heard of the race either.
Here's a possibility:
Kip may very well have run a marathon on that day in Jackson Hole. However, no official race actually existed and to get official credit for it, he needed one. So one is made up with a list of names and submitted. All that was needed is a 5k-ish course to run back and forth a few times.

full stop here - please, noone mess with the guy's livelihood - that would put a very quick end to this thread I think and could hurt innocent parties.
Do not call the guy's office - please.
Study of Kip Litton Running,
Speaking of threads ending, do you think you could another "backup" of this thread to your backup blog when you get a chance? Thanks.

Let us know how Kip responds.
I don't think we need any more info on the WWM, PineHills 5, or Sandy Springs half. From what I've seen on the last few pages of posts, these are 100% made up events. Made up by Kip and his buddy Ben.
Kip, You're probably reading this thread. Just want to say that you should take a good hard look at yourself and your life. You are either a con man trying to swindle some folks out of money or you are completely f'ing nuts. I suspect the latter.
You wanted your family and friends to look up to as this great runner and philanthropist. But now they know that you are nothing more than a fraud. I suggest you come clean to your family and get some counseling.
PS. No need to attempt a "verified" sub 3 run. It doesn't take away from the fact that you cheated and made up races over the last several years.
Don't know if this page has been discussed before. 250k is a lot of dough. I wonder what laws have been broken if he has actually collected money from people or businesses.
Not sure if it's really charity fraud if he in fact donates the proceeds to the stated charity. Any lawyers out there have an opinion on this?
I appreciate your position, and you certainly have the right idea, but guys like this will never "come clean" and get the help they need. Even if you had Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC corner this guy with videotape of him cutting the course, he'd still look you in the eye and say it wasn't him. The guy is a nut job sociopath.
These imaginary races don't make any sense. Who the hell flies all the way to Pine Hills, Florida to run a 5K??!!!!! Not sure about the rest of you, but I'm reluctant to drive more than 30 minutes for a 3.1 mile race.

If you download the PDF results for the Sandy Springs half marathon and look at the author information in Adobe Acrobat, its author is ...
If you look at google's cached version of the WWM page, you'll find there is a link to a results page. Pull up the cached version of the results page. Check the html source...
All the sites listed have the same IP address, meaning they resolve to the same internet location. That location is hosted by 1and1.com, a huge internet hosting company. Likely they are hosted by a 1and1 reseller, who buys space and bandwidth from 1and1 and sells it to other people for their sites.
KL could be that reseller but I doubt it. The various sites are from all over the country and in lots of different industries. Some of them are credited to different design companies. More likely is that this is a small-time reseller making extra money on the side (the fees from the sites alone probably aren't enough to constitute a living).
Like the running results, this doesn't by itself mean that KL has made up those races and the sites for them. He could claim that he bought space for his dental practice site from the same reseller as the race sites. It's possible but it'd be an incredible coincidence. The fact that he is so far the only verified runner in those races and that he is verified as hosting his site at the same IP as their sites is just more circumstantial evidence against him.
Sorry for posting his office info. I just got carried away by the hottie he has on his dental facebook site
Seriously i love this thread and didnt mean to jeopardize it.....
In addition to KL, there are 4 runners who have claimed their participation to the West Wyoming Marathon on athlinks. I checked the date of creation of their profiles:
joel hernandez Since 10/15/2010
joseph smith Since 10/14/2010
sue johnson Since 10/9/2010
donna dixon Since 10/15/2010
that is all of their only races. he really tried to dot all i's
