Word on the street is that there was some shoving in the race, followed by a heated encounter in chute.
Any truth to this?

yes
yeah jake hursyz was just being himself aka acting like a douche bag
OR was Sandy Roberts trying to slam the freshman into the ground during the race?

Correction...Jake Hursyz was just being a Chapel Hill Tar Heel aka acting like a douche bag.
Did Geiger get into it with Watson? That would have been quite a battle.
Probably in the same weight category.
Even if there was shoving during the race, I'm sure Jake Hurys was being his typical self and being a little $#!t head. Congrats on the self proclaimed "#1 class in the nation" getting 3rd in your second tier conference. Maybe start showing some class and people will start to respect you a little more.
So what happened exactly...what is the word on the street of what went down?
this is probably the greatest thing ever. there needs to be more violence in cross country

I'm pretty sure flotrack proclaimed them to be the #1 class in the country. And as for being second-tier, the ACC currently has five ranked teams. Third place is a solid showing for a team with five freshman in the top seven.
Please tell me that the two coaches were rolling around on the ground like two hobos fighting over a sandwich.
Yes true, while flotrack did proclaim them the #1 class, they haven't been running like it and certainly haven't been behaving like it. I guess they're young though, they'll learn that if you act like a piece of trash (like huryz did this weekend), people will treat you accordingly.
Anybody actually have a first-hand account of what happened?
No more of this "well I heard it was like this..." BS.
they had four freshman under 25 minutes at ACC's.. how do you expect them to be running?
The jump from 5k-8k-10k makes most freshman at elite programs useless even if they are super talented. For every Derrick, Puskedra, McDougal, Ritz, Webb etc. there are scores of freshman that have difficulties adapting to college life and training. If they're sucking by the end of their sophomore year, that's when you can say they aren't living up to the hype.
Why do you need a first hand account?
I am guessing that "Rajiv Punjabi", "What was the Deal", and "enough with the rumors" are the same instigator!
Interesting that this made the messages board. I didnt think anyone else saw this. I was standing right at the finish when this happened and from the looks of it Sandy Roberts and
NC States fourth runner(Sonnenfeldt maybe?) were coming into the chute pretty fast and Sandy unintentionally bumped Jake Hurtz. From there Jake just started cursing, which caused a reaction from both teams. Thats all i saw from the finish line view.

Most definitely an altercation. I'm from Maryland and was there as a spectator. Two of the runners, I know this is hard to fathom, actually bodyslammed each other after exiting the chute. I've never seen anything like it in my life after 35 years of XC meets.
Go Wolfpack!
haha lil jake hurtz wouldnt have stood a chance
We need video of this. Where's Flotrack when you really need them
