runners are a bunch of insular douche bags.

I have to admit that this site does have a lot of d-bags on it. Don't know if it's due to runner mentality or the anonymous forum. Both I suspect.

Anonymous forum much more so. It's like this on many high-traffic forums.
I associate with many adult runners. They seem to be fun loving great people who are fitness oriented and seem very supportive of others.
I like runners. (But I like triathletes too so I might be a poor judge of people)
College level runners/ competitve open runners I don't know that many but they seem pretty good too.
runners don't bother me, but joggers drive me f'in crazy.
I think it's a younger generation, coupled with the anonymity factor. People that get on here and bash the likes of Teg and Webb because they can't be champs 24/7 are just ridiculous.
If Webb wants to go out and eat 4 qts of chinese food a night, more power to him, it's his life. He's run on an extremely high level for a very long time and that kills all kinds of aspects of your life (I imagine).
Anyway, to the point, runners that aren't condescending to others, I truly enjoy. People that bash anyone with a 5k slower than their own, ehh, not so much.
being a retired runner in my twenties, it is safe to say that runners are the weirdest people i know. they are the most akward people i know. now this usually changes with age.
I know many people through my line of work. Of the adults I know who run, and these are mostly fitness and mildly competive runners, they seem better adjusted than nonrunners. Adults who run have a more positive outlook and seem to enjoy life more. They are fit, a bit more vain about appearance, and fun to be around.
The adults who are not physically active seem to have more issues.
I know many people through my line of work.
Proctologist?
And yet you come here to hang out with more assholes outside of work?
amateur club cyclists are worse. They talk 90% about their equipment and 10% about their training, whereas runners do the opposite. The lightest bike, the latest gear mechanism, camel back vs water bottle, helmet shape, etc. It's like they're trying to buy their way to a better time.
douche bags no, weirdos yes. runners are very socially awkward. Did anyone watch the Oregon track shack on flotrack???? those kids were funny but they were also such dorky goobers, and they are the best and brightest in our sport. The only person who looked cool at all in that video was andy wheating and he's been running for what 2 years??? Just face it, runners are weird kids that usually decide to get into the sport because they suck at all other athletic activities. I accepted it a long time ago.

Actually, runners are the best people I know. Letsrunners, whom I only know from words on a computer screen, are the worst.
I'll admit that I can see how I would be annoying--running and eating just take up such a large part of my leisure time and life in general that I end up talking about them a lot despite my own mediocrity; I'm sure people find this to be annoying.
