Parker Wolfe ran down Rocky Hansen to win USATF Cross Country, while pre race favorites Nico Young and Graham Blanks rounded out the strong Team USA for Worlds.

Move over Cole Hocker and Grant Fisher. According to the betting markets, Nico Young has the best combined odds of any American distance runner to win gold at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Cole Hocker closed in 51.76 to win the men’s 5000m at the 2025 USATF Championships in 13:26.45, completing his bid to double in Tokyo. He outkicked Grant Fisher and Nico Young in a tactical race, with Drew Hunter and Cooper Teare rounding out the top five.

Young's time is the fastest ever outdoors by an American and trials only Grant Fisher's 12:44.09 world indoor record on the all-time US list. Today's run was the first time in nearly 50 years that an American man has gone to Europe and won a 5000 while running within 10 seconds of the world record. Way back on July 4, 1978, Marty Liquori won in Stockholm in 13:16.21 when Henry Rono's WR was 13:08.4.

An American man hasn't even been on the same track in an outdoor 5000m race in over a half-century so we are super pumped about tomorrow's race. We talked to coaches Mike Smith and Alex Gibby and both were bullish about the fitness their protégés. Mike Smith: "I think you will see Nico position himself right in the mix to compete in this race." Young was sensational and DESTROYED the collegiate record but Alicia Monson's AR attempt went south really quickly and she dropped out.  Tsigie Gebreselama fan the first sub-30:00 women's 10,000 on US soild as Weini Kelati got the standard as did Britain's version of Parker Valby, Megan Keith.
