Obviously, he has his sights set on bigger things, but will this 10k count as a qualifier for NCAA regionals?
Didn't he and Nur run into an issue in 2022 where the Sound running 5k they ran really fast in didn't count toward NCAA lists because it didnt have enought events at the meet or something?
Habtom Samuel's in the race too, so he's gonna have company if they're both going for the collegiate record. He ran an Eritrean U20 road 10K record of 27:51 in 2022 and then followed that up later in the year by running 27:20.08 on the track.
I think he might contest mile/5000 or just 5000 at Outdoors, especially if his 10K time doesn't qualify for NCAA. No way Smith wants Young to have to run another qualifying 10K meet for just NCAA when the goal is probably Olympic Trials 5k/10k.

That’s great news, but I kinda wish he run just one race at NCAAs.
a 3K is a mile and a half and a 5K is a little over 3 miles. that's basically a warmup for him.
Maybe, but there have been guys that burned themselves out for outdoors by doing too many races indoors and they didn’t immediately run an all out 10000m in March.
A guy that finished over 26 seconds behind the NCAA X-Country winner less than 4 months ago is going to run under 27:10? It is possible but not likely. Probably 27:20ish would be a lot to ask but much more likely.

They said he was the 3k/5k champion this year when he wasn't even the 3k/5k champion last year. How is this possible???
