From sprint stars like Wayde van Niekerk, Yohan Blake, Toriw Bowie, and  Shaunae Miller-Uibo to mid-d and distance stars like Robby Andrews, Leo Manzano, Donavan Brazier, Dejen Gebremeskel, and Muktar Edris. Rowbury faces Viola Lagat, former All-American Dominque Scott and Neely Gracey while the men's race has 2012 Olympic silver medalist Dejen Gebremeskel, Will Leer, GB's Andy Vernon and Aussie Collis Birmingham.

The men's 3k (Paul Chelimo, Clayton Murphy, Eric Jenkins, Dejen Gebremeskel) and women's 3k (Shannon Rowbury, Hellen Obiri, Sifan Hassan) are the most compelling races, but there's also Duane Solomon vs. Donavan Brazier in the 600, a battle between the last two Olympic champs in the women's PV and Emma Coburn, Sydney McLaughlin, Brenda Martinez and Jenny Simpson teaming up to attack the DMR WR.

Olympic silver medalist Gebremeskel dropped a world leading 7:38 in the 3K, while Seyaum ran 4:00 in the 1500. Sheila Reid won a competitive mile in 4:27.

Meseret Defar is back and US-based stars Andrew Wheating (1k), Boris Berian (600) and Nick Willis got wins as Dawit Seyaum outkicked Brenda Martinez.

An American man or woman had never won a 5000 on the DL circuit until today when Ben True kicked home to the title. Can he challenge Galen Rupp at USAs?

Storylines abound in New York. Duane Solomon is one of several Americans who will face Rudisha, while the women's 800 includes Brenda Martinez and Ajee Wilson. Ben True and Nick Willis take on top talents Hagos Gebrhiwet, Dejen Gebremeskel and Thomas Longosiwa in the men's 5,000. Plus Grant Fisher goes in the Dream Mile and Mary Cain runs the 1000 in her first race since taking a break from NOP.

Carlsbad is home to 45 of the fastest 50 men's 5K road times in history and is hoping for a women's world record in its 30th edition on Sunday. We spoke to Dibaba and her coach Jama Aden (among others) on Friday, who offered an explanation for her struggles at outdoor World Championships. Andy Vernon also offered his thoughts on Mo Farah.
