Every year it seems like the USA blows it in the men's 4X100. And......they just did it again.

skitgubbar!
"I mean, listen, we're talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We're talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last. Not the game. We're talking about practice, man. I mean how silly is that. And we're talking about practice."
Things I've come to realize:
Death,
Taxes,
USA Fucking up a 4 x 100 Relay.
this is crazy - we've got to give the coaches the authority to pick the team solely based on who's willing to practice and none of this top 4 finishers at USATFs getting automatically into it, unless they commit to and actually do follow the practice schedule.
Maybe we should just take the four fastest guys - not the fastest teams, but the guys who run the fastest legs - from relays at NCAAs - or would they get waxed?
maybe they needed a little more hazing to gel as a team

What a warped and utterly contrary-to-the-facts sense of reality.
In the 4x100, the US has been, and will continue to be, the world's dominant force.
someone should post WC and Olympic 4x100 results because we have dropped the stick a bunch of times (could be wrong but at least it feels like it's happened several times) and at least in 96 we got beat by Canada.
albeit an undisciplined and incredibly sloppy one.
If Leonard Scott could hold on, he would still be playing ball. No freaking excuse. Real professionals practice this and hold onto to that bataon consistently. We drop ours consistently.
Apparently these oppsies are catching. The Bahamas and Russia, both of which would have been medal cotnender in the women's 4x100, are both DNFs in the heats.
So let me get this straight: we have the single best 100m racer at the meet, the four best 200m racers at the meet, and we could have the three best 400m racers at the meet, yet we can't get a baton that weighs about .3 ounces around the track one freakin' time?
Maybe it was El Niño.
we even finished last in the 50k racewalk! Go USA, well at least our walker finished, the winners probably ran half the way.
THE REAL TRAVESTY IS THAT BROOKS JOHNSON HIRED ONE OF HIS BOYS (OLD WASHIGTON COACH) TO ACTUALLY BE THE SPRINT COODINATOR (IE - WE HAVE THE 10 FASTEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD IN THE 100, 200 AND 400 - GET THE STICK AROUND WITHOUT DROPPING IT AND OUR TEAMS CAN JOG FOR GOLD!) AND THAT IS THIS GUYS SOLE JOB. USATF PAYS TRAVEL AND A FAIRLY HEFTY SALARY IN THE BALLPARK OF $60K TO JUST DO THIS. UNBELIEVABLE!
