Semenya says, "I’m going to surprise you … and you’re going to like the surprise. My biggest goal remains to be at the Olympics and I will work hard to achieve that. No ruling is going to get in the way of that.”
So what is it? She can't compete in events from 400m to a mile. So does she step up to the 5000m (she ran a 16:05.97 PB at altitude last year to win South African Champs) or is she going to compete in another sport entirely? She joined a South African soccer club last fall.

What event/sport will Caster Semenya be competing in at Tokyo 2020?

I'm sure she can win any even she actually tries at. She sandbagged her way to multiple golds in the 800m. I can see a 200m win on the cards.

I agree, 200 is most likely and will probably medal.

Rojo, you’re OBSESSED with Caster Semenya. You sound hysterical

She’s not very fast at either 200m or 5000m. Doesn’t seem like any of the intersex women were. For some reason, they mainly excelled at 800m specifically.
Anyone know the science as to why? Even their 400m and 1500m times weren’t on par with 800m. -

Why is it that people believe Semenya and Eastwood are sandbagging? Her 200 PR is 24.xx and her recent 300, which isn't an Olympic event, kind of sucked. I've never seen a woman with a physique like her's that is competitive in the steeple or 5000. -

Just a guess but I'm better there are way more HS boys each year who run between 1:57-2:02 than who run 10.8 or 14:30(Times to be top Elite Females). That's not the science but it probably proves that maybe most decent boys can be somewhat trained to solid mid distance results. So with her biology that ends up being her sweet spots for events. -
3000 steeple?

I've never seen a woman with such a physique, period. -
She has an advantage at every distance. Its more obvious in the event she trains the hardest for. Just like a male or female, she still is better suited for certain distances. David Rudisha is better in the 8 than the 10K! But yes, her advantage carries over to everything. That's testosterone. The distance limitation of IAAF rules was due solely to what they had enough data on.

You are all way off base here. It won't be a track event.
My guess would be either a field event or something like weightlifting. -
Heptathlon? Or does the 1500 ban apply to that as well?

STEEPLE !!!
The 3000m steeple or the 200m? Both of her times are not world class right now (24.2 for the 200m; only 9.20s (I think) for the 3000m. However, I think with her 'sandbagging' a 3.5x 1500m many times, she's more suited to the strength required for the 3000m steeple.
Anyone spotted her training..? What is she looking like? If she's training for the 200m, it'll be a very different regimen - she'll get very buff and strong with lots of short track sprint workouts; for the 3000m steeple, it'll be a lot more long work, and likely she'll be slimming down some.
Either way, it'll be very interesting to see what a very ordinary club runner XY biological male does against the best XX women in the world (and not in her best event either..). Then they can [and should] ban biological males from that event too. -

Weightlifting? Oh god no. Even with the natural advantages Semenya will be utterly embarrassed by the East Asians and Soviets. -
Long jump.
