Semenya says, "I’m going to surprise you … and you’re going to like the surprise. My biggest goal remains to be at the Olympics and I will work hard to achieve that. No ruling is going to get in the way of that.”
So what is it? She can't compete in events from 400m to a mile. So does she step up to the 5000m (she ran a 16:05.97 PB at altitude last year to win South African Champs) or is she going to compete in another sport entirely? She joined a South African soccer club last fall.
STEEPLE !!!
The 3000m steeple or the 200m? Both of her times are not world class right now (24.2 for the 200m; only 9.20s (I think) for the 3000m. However, I think with her 'sandbagging' a 3.5x 1500m many times, she's more suited to the strength required for the 3000m steeple.
Anyone spotted her training..? What is she looking like? If she's training for the 200m, it'll be a very different regimen - she'll get very buff and strong with lots of short track sprint workouts; for the 3000m steeple, it'll be a lot more long work, and likely she'll be slimming down some.
Either way, it'll be very interesting to see what a very ordinary club runner XY biological male does against the best XX women in the world (and not in her best event either..). Then they can [and should] ban biological males from that event too.
