Looking at some places to run in Ohio, mostly looking at Youngstown, Kent state and Akron U. Thoughts on these programs or how athletes have progressed in theses schools in the past?

Akron and YSU have significantly stronger distance programs than Kent.

I’d take John Carroll University over Youngstown St. Similar times but JCU is competitive at the D3 level nationally
high school times? Can give much better estimate of what you should look for with some help on your background
Otterbein, the superior OAC distance school

Yea definitely, 51 (4by4 split never raced the open so take with a grain of salt), 1:57, 4:20, 9:49

If you are looking at mid-majors, and since two of your choices there are in the MAC, you should consider Eastern Michigan. The campus is way nicer than Akron or Kent State, they have reciprocity with every state in the country, so you won't pay more than an in-state student, and EMU has the best distance coach in this part of the country. The men won the MAC in CC in the fall, and they have been killing it in indoor track so far. I don't know how good you are though. You'd better be at least 9:25 3200 or equivalent for you to get a look there.

Oh, I missed this before. EMU won't be interested in you with times like that. Sorry to be blunt. Those are DIII and DII times. Kent State might be interested, because they are horrible. I doubt Akron would be interested in you unless they have a very weak recruiting year, and even then perhaps not.
Are you a junior or senior? YSU has a deep recruiting class this year but is looking to expand so you would have a good shot as a walk on/preferred walk on.
