Some people suggest this. Others suggest to go to bed at the same time every night whether you are sleepy or not. So which works better? If I wait until I get sleepy, it will be 2-3am every "night" (or morning, technically speaking.)
I don't know if one will work better for any one person, just sharing what worked for me. It was definitely an unpleasant process for a bit.
By "consistency" I meant always doing the same thing in the bed: sleeping and only sleeping. For me, this did involve staying up late and going to bed at different times for awhile. I was already "staying up" that late, I was just doing it while thrashing around in bed.
This way, I got stuff done instead of just getting frustrated and making the problem worse. The idea was to train my brain that bed=sleep. It seemed to eventually work. I'm talking a month or more of this before I started going to bed a little earlier here, a little earlier there. If I wasn't out right away, then get back up, guess I'm up late today, thems the breaks.
