Why do non-athletic people get wiped out from doing nothing all week?
as someone who hasn't been training for the last 6 months, i have way less energy than when I was running.
it's weird, I was exhausted training for marathons, but my body was more "awake" .
My body feels better now, but when you're not moving everyday, you're sleepier, more tired, and it's easier to get sore form every day stuff.
Running really hardens you. It's hard.
yes running is hard, if you go hard. but running is not so hard if you do it right.
what is good is to do something really difficult for about a year, and then proper running training is easy.
i worked very hard six days physically and did 10k to 15k relatively quality 8 days per week for an extended period,
doing things like lifting and hauling,
after that, that idea of 100 miles per week is laughable. if you are talking about a big workload.
anyway, if you recover properly, and workout properly, it's not hard.
you only have to red-ling, what? an hour in total per week?
for example, if you do a 10 mile fast run, you are only seim red lining for what ? say 15 to 20 min.
in a 6 x 800 m hard session, you are in the red zone about 5 or so minutes.
in a 6 x 1 mile workout, under 5k pace, you are semi-red zone what? 10 minutes.
that's all the red zoning you need. 85% of max is all you do in training.
but, doing some really tough stuff for an extended period, is good mentally, so you can look at your 100 miles per week as a lazy man's routine.
