1. "Coaching pros is a side gig and how many NCAA coaches have done better with pros than Wetmore?"
Really? Bob Timmons, Bill Dellinger, Scott Simmons, John Cook, Ray Treacy, Bob Larsen, Sam Bell, etc.
2. "Salazar's job was to win at the highest level by whatever means necessary and look what happened."
- He & his employer are appealing the verdict.
- Do you really believe Mary Cain who struggled or may be struggling w/mental health issues is an authority on what it takes to medal at the IAAF-level?
3. Wetmore's Teams
- I agree that if Colorado's AD accepts such a narrow focus on middle & long-distance runners amongst amongst 3 x Sports (XC, Indoor, Outdoor) despite the negative impact towards the university's ability to compete for awards such as the NCAA's "Capital One Cup" then indeed an advantage to Wetmore. Most other coaches have program constraints to excel across all 3 x sports compared to Coach Wetmore's situation.
4. CU XC Academics "Colorado's cross country teams are regularly among the tops in the athletic department in the classroom, annually finishing with well above a 3.0 grade-point average in some of the toughest academic disciplines CU offers.)"
- Would you not agree that Coach Wetmore's recruiting focuses upon athletes at the highest level of socio-economic advantage? As addressed earlier, most middle/long-distance athletes are white thus automatically privileged according to the "snowflake generation." Furthermore, I'm to understand that he recruits nationally, but rarely offers full-scholarships. Thus, Coach Wetmore can only attract those athletes whose parents can make-up the difference on out-of-state tuition.
5. Altitude. Would't you say CU has a HUGE advantage given they train at ALTITUDE compared to other programs?
All to say, I respect CU's program WAY more than Eyestone's semi-pro BS @ BY, NAU's international flavor, & OK State's typical token East African athlete . Let's just not be "fake"!
