I'm assuming these are youngsters, not college kids.
If you know the length of the loop, (ideally some off distance rather than something divisible by 400 meters), and know your athletes well enough to assign paces (X:XX per lap) then you can incentivize each training group to hit their exact targets.
Or tell them to hit their target in the first then a few seconds faster per lap if you're feeling spicy.
