It is relevant because "doping violation" and "doping scheme" are equivalent to the use of performance enhancing drugs - and l-carnitine is NOT a performance enhancing drug. To people who don't know to look any further, all of the headlines would have one believe that Alberto's athletes were using Epo or something but that is not the case. It is important to distinguish. Was what he did foolish? Yes. Were his athletes doping? No.
Since this thread is designed for people who have read the report, I expect a higher standard of understanding and insight.
"Doping violation" is not equivalent to the use of performance enhancing drugs. There are also prohibited methods. Call it "violations of the WADA code" instead of "doping violation" and "doping scheme" if it makes you feel better. What he did was clearly and unambiguously in violation of that code.
