Sub 13 is such a good time.
4:10 miles and 62.4 second per 400m
How do these guys do that and the World Record is even faster.

Nike has the WHQ campus (that everyone thinks of) and also a business park campus down the road a little bit. Combined is probably where the 12k comes from.
Also, 300 in attendance last night is a lie. It was PACKED around the track. Definitely 1500+.
As much as I despise BTC not really ever racing, this was a very cool event. It was a lot of fun just seeing these guys hammering and putting on a show for the crowd.

Guy's listed 800 PR is barley better than mine, lol.
What a story.
Outhouse to penthouse in 13:00
Woody's progression:
2013: 13:58 / 3:45 (freshman/soph?)
2014: no prs (junior)
2015: 13:48 / 3:43 (redshirt junior)
2016: 13:44 indoors / 13:27 outdoors (redshirt senior)
2017: 13:12 indoors (post-collegiate 1)
2018: no prs (post-collegiate 2)
2019: 12:58 / 3:42 (post-collegiate 3)
The dated are slightly muddled because I tried to fit the college performances into the academic year rather than calendar year, but close enough. I'm also ignoring 800, 3k, 10k, and 2 miles as none of those seem to be as good as his 5k times.
Looks like he has always dropped big chunks of time from his 5k pr:
- 10 seconds in 2015
- 17 seconds between indoor and outdoor in 2016
- 15 seconds in 2017
- 14 seconds in 2019
I realize 14 seconds when you're at 13:12 is different than when you're at 13:58.
At least Doorbell Mo made his progression in the 5000 look believable.
Bob Kennedy's 5k progression:
1990: 13:42 (junior)
1991: 13:22 (senior)
1992: no 5k pr (post-collegiate 1)
1993: 13:14 (post-collegiate 2)
1994: 13:02 (post-collegiate 3)
Not all that different from Woody in my opinion.
Woody also has the benefit of living in a faster era, so yes, maybe his times can look like the great Bob Kennedy's.

He also hasn't been in any crazy fast races where he could have run a great time. Other than his indoor PR in 2017, his fastest times have all come in slower races. Here's the results from his 4 fastest:
Winner: 13:04, Woody: 13:12
Winner: 13:25, Woody: 13:26
Winner: 13:26, Woody: 13:27
Winner: 13:25, Woody: 13:28
The reason why most of us are skeptical is that all 3 destroyed any time they have ever run for that distance. Just like if we witnessed guys that have run 12:50 suddenly running 12:35

Lol. Ol' doorbell dropped 21 seconds 2005-6. Woody dropped 14 seconds between now and his previous PB.

What? Lomong is the former AR holder at 13:07.00 indoors and is coming off his best showing ever at the US Champs. If him running 13:00 in a perfectly paced event on the Nike track shocked you, then you don't follow the sport very closely.
Bekele ran 12:37 with pacers, but how many times did he run even within ten seconds of that in a championship? It's the conditions and pacers that make times like this. Bob K had the benefit of being embedded in packs of EPO-fueled cohorts every single major race, essentially 2-4 pacers each time.

Also Centro is a freaking Olympic gold medalist at 1500 meters. To do that you either need to be a 1:42-1:43 guy or a 13:00-13:10 guy.

Hahaha. Much more suspicious than Kincaid. No injuries and he was running the 5 a lot. Very very suspicious 2006.
Bekele ran his last 3k of that race solo in 7:30. With pacing like Kincaid got last night, you can cut several seconds off his 12:37.
Man, Bob Kennedy got a damn shoe named after him... Woody, well, gets a...
When was the last time they were in a time trial with conditions this perfect? Has there EVER been a time trial with conditions this perfect?

I love this sport and try my best to keep it positive but no way can you spin 300 total in attendance as a good turnout.
I was SHOCKED with how many people were there. 9:00 pm on a weekday and it wasnt well advertises. The track is not made for spectators and it was packed. I think 300 was what were expecting. I saw someone say 2000. I doubt it was that many. 1200 would be my guess. It wasnt just a bunch of nike employees either. It was mostly the local running community
