That's not a race, it's a glorified time trial.
-
That's not good. Mr Alberto now has a trip hazard at his cut-thru spot to get over to the open side.

I disagree. It is not even glorified. ;) -

You're not going to cry, are you? -
Are there only BTC athletes in the field? If so, can it be sanctioned? I know there was some discussion about whether Walmsley’s performance was record-eligible or only an exhibition because the race wasn’t open to non-Hoka athletes. Does that also apply here, or is there a difference between track and road/trail requirements regarding whether the competition is restricted or not?

If you don't let yourself have enough opportunities to hit standards and achieve times this is what you have to resort to.

Obviously it is ridiculous and silly. Hope Jerry doesn’t make one of the best race tacticians and turn him into basket case like other guys in club who can’t race unless everything is perfect. Lining in real competitor. Probably just trying to knock out Olympic standard as that is a big advantage to have when Jerry pounds them for 10 months.
But this is the difference between Salazar and Jerry. Salazar would have this be an 800 to get fast; Jerry a 5k for strength (even though Centrowitz is racing 1500). Speed from strength theory works but not enough at Worlds level. -

Yep, did the same thing to Lopez Lomong. -

Yep, Mo Ahmed and Houlihan, too. What a shame. -

Toss a token a OTC (sub-)Elite in there we’re all good, baby.
Typical. -

There's a pretty significant amount of World Championships and Olympic medals attributed to Jerry's coaching. Especially considering he's only been in the professional game about a decade. -

In the same time as those athletes:
Mo Farah gold in the 5 and 10
Galen Rupp silver in the 10 and bronze in the marathon
Mathew Centrowitz gold in the 1500
Shannon Rowbury bronze in the indoor 3000
Sifan Hassan mile world record
Yomif Kejelcha indoor mile world record -

Have you ever watched the Berlin Marathon? -

His athletes just hardly race period. Sure the Olympics are next year but I'm 100% sure they'll be racing sparingly in 2021 as well...not to mention that his track athletes are more than likely not medal threats other than Centrowitz and odds are he won't win a medal either. -
All apart of Jerry's plan to get Centro the 5k gold at 2024 Olympics
-
If Alberto did this these boards would be going crazy!
