Whom did you work for? You need to publicly shame those jerks on social media so that this never happens again.

Why did you not show up? Were you sick? Did you think you could work from home? What kind of work was it?
I'm going 6/10 here: simple (-minded) concept, but you're getting plenty of bites.

Your drug addiction is a disability. They need to pay for rehab AND give you your job back when your finished
I have a good story related to this. At my last job there was this dude who I'm pretty sure had autism or some kind of mental disability. He was fired because he truly sucked at his job. I didn't work with him, but I heard he was abysmal. We were on the same floor so I'd walk past him and he had a hunchback thing going on and he just looked and talked like he had a few nuts and bolts missing.
Anyways, as I said, he was fired. His seat was empty and cleaned out. And about 4-5 weeks later he was randomly back. I was told HR told his manager you can't fire him no matter how bad he is at his job. I was blown away. They put him back on the exact same team. I mean, I get it, if he has a mental disability then sure he can't be fired in today's day and age. But that's awkward to put him back on the same team. Put him somewhere else. It was hilarious to me.
On my last day some of my peers pressured me into sending an email to this group email the guy was on. Apparently the weirdo dude had an idea to do bachata classes with some of the young women on the floor. If you don't know what bachata is, it's a very sensual dance where you rub your bodies together and essentially have sex with your clothes on. So, anyways, my peers told me I should tell the young women it's a stupid idea and not to feel pressured into doing it. Since I heard some of the young women felt like they HAD to do it. So, I wanted to clear the air.
I feel the injustice. You should've first received a verbal warning. Then a written warning. Then another verbal warning. Then a final written warning. Employment "at-will" is a travesty.
My situation was worse. I don't even have to go to the office - I work from home. Or, sometimes from a cafe or from a strip mall storefront with a fishy business name. My boss told me that I have to tell him where I am going to be AT ALL TIMES or I'll get fired! He even sends people to my house to make sure I'm working. So one time I told him I'd be working from home, and I was taking a quick 2-hour shower like I do in the mornings and evenings. No big deal. But then my boss says that he sent someone to my house and the guy rang the doorbell for an hour and a half and I didn't answer. I can't hear the doorbell during those 4 hours each day - it's not my fault. Another time, I told my boss I was working at home but got sidetracked and went to the Bahamas for a long weekend. And wouldn't you know it, my boss sent someone to my house that day. I brought my laptop to the Bahamas and did all my work! After a third time, I got fired, but my boss did say he'd hire me back in two years as long as he could keep track of me. What a dick. I'm tired of that job. I'm going to make a clean break and follow my real dream of being a professional athlete.
Clever post is clever
My boss is so unreasonable. If I decide I'm going to work from home that day, he demands I text him with at least 1 minutes warning to a personalized phone he had set up just in case of this. It's such an ordeal to send that text.
