ya.....maybe. Ostrander has been consistently beaten sub 9:30 runners all year in Howard and Coen.
Isn't coasting the first 2k and winning easily pretty much exactly describe most Ostrander steeples, including the NCAA final against Howard, who took silver at Pan Ams?
I agree it would not have been an easy win for either.
I'd call it a toss-up. Would have been a good one, hopeful a match up we can see again soon. Not sure Doha will tell us that much though if it's crazy hot.

yeah interesting looking at USAs vs Lima, they both ran very similar races
both races had howard and in both races they started lap 6 at 6:01.
Lima:
Howard and Lalonde hit lap 6 at ~6:01 and Lalonde runs 1:13s and puts ~ 2 seconds on Howard in the last 1200m.
9:41.5
USAs:
Howard, Ostrander and Mel Lawrence cross at ~ 6:01 and Ostrander runs 1:12s and puts ~14 seconds on them.
9:38.5
who knows, i guess that's why they run the races. I'd probably give slight edge to Ostrander. Faster finish off similar pace and in worse conditions. Admittedly it's not much to go on, probably next to meaningless.
