Hey guys, what about those new nonalcoholic breweries that keep popping up? I sure do enjoy nonalcoholic brews.

"Running less well"
I am sure he would not go back and change a thing if he could! The whole time he was competing he was very open on his social media about his drinking and he would do it openly for all to see. He is not a good role model and def does not need to be making videos of what not to do when he did and does it himself! He kind of smiles and thinks it's funny when he tells his past and says he would not recommend it! Get out of here Nick! You were never a good role model for young runners and you still aren't!

1) Every drink of alcohol consumed increases one's risk for cancer.
2) Roger Banister believed carbonated beverages decreases pulmonary function. See beer.
3) All the salt, sugar and yeast in beer, spirits and wine are not healthy.
4) You, Nick Symmonds did not make it to 2008 summer Olympics final when at least three non-alcohol consuming Muslims did make 2008 800m final. I assume others in that final live as Muslims and did not consume alcohol.
I bet he is still having fun, while they are banging their heads on the ground 5 times a day
I think Mormons represent U.S. well considering we do not see female Mormons too often. I assume after college years, female Mormons are making babies. Female Mormons are not likely to wait until they are (32 to 35) years old to procreate. Considering Mormon males are only less than 8 million of U.S. population, we have seen a bunch of good Mormon runners. If Mormon male runners never took time off for their Mission, obviously more Mormon males would be world class runners.
Do not bend the science of alcohol to justify your habits. Alcohol is a performance inhibitor. Even if one escapes the correlation of alcohol and cancer, alcohol damages one's brain, alcohol damages one's kidneys, alcohol damages one's liver, alcohol damages one's pancreas. Stated organs may be damaged and will be damaged with too much alcohol consumption even sans cancer.
Should we get into waste of money?
Should we get into risk of criminal behavior?
Should we get into risk of saying things in person, on-line, on email or in text messages that are foolish even though not at a criminal level?
Symmonds has no U.S. T&F records.
Symmonds has no Olympic medals.
Symmonds getting on here and bragging about being a binge drinker during his best running years demonstrates his talents were wasted.
Nick Symmonds is a Chad.
Roger Bannister was a research neurologist who published more than 80 scientific papers.
Eh, my cross country team took a dry season one year after being a bunch of drunken degenerates for the past 2 years. The result? We had our absolute worst season our school has had in almost 10 years. If well managed you can run well and indulge in a few drinky poo's, as shown by Symmonds, the WORLD SILVER MEDALIST AND 1:42 RUNNER!
Didn't Henry Rono break a world record hung over?
Heavy drinking will trash your liver. Light drinking won't because it doesn't overload the Krebs cycle in cells and cause an overflow of metabolites.
Study the cancer scares and you'll find light drinking can modestly increase your very low chances of getting uncommon cancers. Want a high-risk carcinogen to be scared of, try H. pylori.
If Nick Symmonds ran 1:42 as a drunk, maybe there was some benefit he's not admitting. Such as eliminating nervous tension to run relaxed.

Exactly! So...
1. Bannister, a neurologist, was not an expert in the cardiovascular system or "pulmonary function" (as original idiot stated), and so his opinions are perhaps 5% more worthwhile than those of an auto mechanic who was also a decent miler.
2. Bannister, a scientist, would know that it is only research and data that count, not hazy anecdotal "beliefs."
3. You just got that 80 papers stat from Wikipedia...How many were he the first or last author on (ie, how many were the result of his own research projects)?
4. There is actual recent science showing there is no effect of alcohol on cardiovascular performance the morning after consuming vast quantities of it.
5. So....try again?
Bannister's first research project was himself and how he could the first 4 minute mile while in medical school. He did pretty good with that - and on minimal training - about 45 miles a week.

Or maybe those post-race beers don't have the effect that you dorks are claiming. I've yet to see to see a study find that alcohol consumption has a LONG term effect on athletic performance. All the negative effects seem to linger within a 48 hour window - so don't get hammered within two days of a race/workout, WHO KNEW!! Although I even doubt that, considering some of my best weekend long runs have been done after a night of cracking open a few cold ones with the bois.

For sure.
Without them, the poor and neglected of the world would not be taken care of. Evangelical Christians do more charity work than any other group of people on the planet.

You sound super fun.

You sure love yourselves and enjoy feeling good. Are you claiming that's some sort of virtue?
Christian charities are poverty pimps. Colonizer/capitalists don't solve problems for real, they merely institutionalize and exploit them. What's that book say, you'll always have the poor?

1.) Everything these days is a risk for cancer, doing nothing might still lead to cancer.
2.) Roger Bannister went to med school in the 1950s.
3.) There is salt, sugar, and unhealthy things in nearly everything people eat these days.
4.) I don't see how one off performance proves your point at all considering the incredible career Nick has had.

Aaaand there we have it! This explains why every thread even mentioning alcohol gets bombarded with these holier-than-thou replies about the evils of drinking an occasional beer.
How do you get an evangelical to stop drinking all your beer on a fishing trip?
Invite two of them.
Let's make this concise...
Johnny Gray (American 800m record holder): 1:42:60
Nick Symmonds: 1:42:95 ( lifetime best)
This alone shows how good Nick was.
He loved racing, eating, drinking and life.
Nick is the every man champion.
No shame.
Thanks, Nick for being real and talented
Plus...
Johnny was 5 inches taller than Nick
Yeah. Nick has nothing to be ashamed of.
Colin Sahlman runs 1:45 and Nico Young runs 1:47 in the 800m tonight at the Desert Heat Classic
Molly Seidel Fails To Debut As An Ultra Runner After Running A Road Marathon The Week Before
Megan Keith (14:43) DESTROYS Parker Valby's 5000 PB in Shanghai
Hallowed sub-16 barrier finally falls - 3 teams led by Villanova's 15:51.91 do it at Penn Relays!!!
Need female opinions: I’m dating a woman that is very sexual with me in public. Any tips/insight?
