Can anybody tell us how to get rid of Nick and all his BS?
Who's the most hated nick on letsrun?
Thanks Nick.
Thanks for the lesson on common sense Nick. Teaching alcoholics one step at a time.
Thank nNick.
What you do not state Nick Symmonds:
1) Every drink of alcohol consumed increases one's risk for cancer.
2) Roger Banister believed carbonated beverages decreases pulmonary function. See beer.
3) All the salt, sugar and yeast in beer, spirits and wine are not healthy.
4) You, Nick Symmonds did not make it to 2008 summer Olympics final when at least three non-alcohol consuming Muslims did make 2008 800m final. I assume others in that final live as Muslims and did not consume alcohol.

That might have some truth, but Muslims tend to be the worst hypocrites alive when in non-Muslim countries, and El G and the rest obviously spent a lot of time in Europe and other dens of iniquity.
It's funny to think though of El G's Moroccan masters spending a fortune on turning him into an Olympic champion and no doubt feeding him his EPO and coming down on him like a tonne of bricks if they caught him drinking.
I'm sure the key dietary difference between Nick and his North African rivals in 2008 was EPO consumption rather than alcohol consumption.
Funny how Symmonds is always assumed to be clean because he's white and/or American. Symmonds is a cockoyster.
Physiologists and others can state 800m is mostly aerobic. I do not want that debate tonight. I do not think 800m and EPO go hand in hand. I would think 800m would be a non-bulking steroid event. Not that much room for error in 800m. Symmonds in the video clip admitted to being a binge drinker while in his twenties. That is not helpful. Everyone or most everyone knows Marcello Fiasconaro partied too much. If Symmonds drank as much as Fiasconaro drank, not good.
What we learned: if you have absolutely insane running genetics, you can get away with doing whatever to your body
At least he was honest, god knows the majority of athletes, particularly runners, have this inherent obsession with alcohol..so openly gloated about..I like a beer with a steak or burger but..a beer right after a race? Idk, I don't get it.
I mean you're definetly not going to be feeling your best on a run the following morning after binge drinking, notice I didn't say a beer..big difference between 1-2 drinks vs 6-8 drinks which I've seen easily happen when, "just having a drink" haha
You think Nick smoked weed? I am still waiting for those closet potheads to come out of the wood work..it's going to happen in this decade, more and more athletes will discuss their routines, and beliefs around using it. Barnicle just beat ya'll to it lol
Lmao Muslims drink plenty man. Sure there's a lot of truly devout Muslims but young Muslim men visiting foreign countries will surely imbibe every now and then. There were also plenty of guys like John Walker, Dixon, Steve Jones that drank plenty and were at the top of the sport. Alcohol is excess calories but you'll find that plenty of top athletes eat and drink stuff that has no positive effect on their bodies. I remember after 5th avenue mile Nick Willis touched on this and he said as an example he knows that Matt Centrowitz spends all day lazing in his hotel room eating gummy bears.

1. Ehhh. It's more complicated than that. And you might want to state what the increased risk is (not as high as you seem to think). Also, the discussion is about athletic performance, not lifespan.
2. Ha. Seriously. Bannister "believed"? Please.
3. This is the stupidest one yet.
4. But what about guys with blond hair? Guys named Gary? Guys with three names? Clearly, if he had been named Gary Glengary Symmonds he would have made the final.

This does a good job of taking care of point 1. (Essentially a drink or two is not going to give you cancer. I mean just think for a moment about the number of people who drink. Also some cancers are reduced risk).
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/10/upshot/health-alcohol-cancer-research.html2) What Bannister "believed" does not matter. Show some evidence. Those with COPD are told not to drink carbonated beverages. So if you are a runner with COPD, please stop drinking carbonated beverages. Now typically carbonated beverages are not the most healthful choice and highly caloric with little nutritional value so there are reasons to recommend modest use.
3) So are salt, sugar and yeast in other beverages okay. Salt is fine. There is even research that provides data showing that the recommendations for sodium might be unhealthy.
4) So do you know for a fact that none of those Muslims ever drank. How devout were they? Also, that is pretty bad logic. If that is the case then why are the Mormons not dominating track? I mean they do not drink and their carbonated beverage intake might even be lower and many are born and reared at altitude.
I could not disagree more! I think #2 is more stupid than #3.

1) LOL. I think there's a study we could find for every single thing you can think of increasing risk of cancer.
2) LOL. One guy believed something.
3) Ok, sure. Running hard at an elite/sub-elite level for many years is not healthy either.
4) The Muslim world is sure reaping the benefits of their clean living. (No offense to Muslims--just fighting anecdotes with anecdotes).
I see a 1/2 dozen or so running alcoholics are on this thread defending their lifestyle.
So now he has one less excuse for his 100m FAILURE.
I would be more interested in Joey Chestnut’s opinion on carbs and sugary drinks than Sick Nymmonds on alcohol
