Can you please describe your training with Susanne Wigene, 14.53 5000m runner from Norway?

I will email to Knut to let him know that you posted a question to him.
Thanks Tinman!
Is he related to Arnie Kvalheim?
She belonged to team Bakken 2003, but she was also poisoned with these iron injections Frank Evertsen gave her and Marius. She thought her career was over but Knut is a much better coach, and will not do anything to destroy her health.

yess, his brother
She's got nice abs.
high milage, 2 sessions per day, sub AT work with some o2 max sessions I guess.
Average of 175 km (110miles) a week from november to april.
bump
IDDI,
All facts and blood analyses from the iron-case did not state that Wigene was iron-poisoned at all. Her personal problems where comprehensive. Take a look at her results before that case. She ran poorly before that too. But, of course, it is more comfortable to blaime her former coach, instead of blaiming her self.
However, Frank overlooked her claims, because he is not a complainer such as Wigene. She cannot run alone... 14.53 is still elite-jogger-level.
Check your facts, moron!

Oh to be "elite-jogger-level"!!!
I see your not that well informed yourself. Please leave the iron- poisoning thing alone. The training she has done resently should be more interesting. Maybe you can learn something?
Knut is on vacation until 28th of july. He promised to comment on her training when he`s back. For those who are familiar with Knut`s own training, it`s based on the same principles ( Lydiard) and the same amount of mileage. As someone wrote earlier, averaging 110 miles a week for most of the winter. She has not been using heart rate monitors nor lactate- meter.
Norwegian is right. Just be patient, folks. Knut will be back and explain things. Indeed he uses endurance as the foundation for success; a proven method worth using over and over.
for success? wigene is running well, but the all the rest of his runners are or have been hurt most of the season. not a success story. wigene is a huge talent and probably not a product of a special trainng program.
could one have thought that 14:53 for a women is easily the equivalent of a 13:30 for men
which begs the question as to how many men on this site can call themselves elite joggers with such times
It`s funny you would claim it´s no success story. The fact is, half of our group has set personal bests so far this season. The season is far from over. Even though I am one of the athletes who got problems and therefore can`t deliver, I would consider it a success.
My point is: If your goal is to achieve what you already have done before, or to make small improvements- thats fairly easy. If you want to perform on another level, the chance of getting injured or having other problems are much greater.
You seem to have a problem with other runners being successful. If you think people are running that fast purely off talent, you`re mistaken.
Wigene is 27 years old. She has been training much and hard for many years. Still she has improved from 15.42 - 14.53 in the last 2 years. The 5000 has been her best distance since she was 20 years old. I think it`s safe to say her improvement comes from training. If you don`t understand that, then it´s time to wake up.
Do you have any opinions on the actual training- I´m interested. But drop the lies about the whole group.
Another thing: training a lot doesn`t guarantee success. Some of the runners will always get into problems anyway.
It's the same with a HS-class, having some superb runners and some not that good runners, but still using the same system. Im sure Kada uses the same system on the training mates of Hicham El Guerrouj, still they can't come near his performances.
There is NO way that 14:53 is equivalent to 13:30. 14:53 is MUCH faster.
Using the Mercier Score Calculator 14.53 is equal to 13.02
http://desert.jsd.claremont.edu/~newt/track/Mercier/window7.html
And accoring to IAAF's scoring tables it's 1200p for 14.53 and 13.05
But still the women's 5k WR is one of the weakest WRs. 14.24
Dibaba could probably run about 14.15 in a good paced race.
