Here's the detailed "weather" article I had in mind :

Doesn't say when they'll pick the date exactly though, can't be too far out now !

Some tidbits I hadn't read before by Hermens here :
"Let’s switch to another of your runners: Eliud Kipchoge. He’s getting ready for the Ineos 159 Challenge in Vienna in the next couple of weeks. How can this possibly be better and faster than Nike’s Breaking2 event in Monza, Italy, two years ago?
The Monza weather wasn’t perfect. We only had a couple of days to choose from, and it was a little humid. We have a wider event window in Vienna to get the best weather. We also learned a lot of things in Monza. The car was too close to the runners; it created a bit of swirling wind. So in Vienna, the car will be 15 meters ahead of the runners rather than 10 meters. The drinks and carbohydrate supplying was not ideal in Monza; it will be better in Vienna. We will have a great team of pacers again. [They include Bernat Lagat and the Ingebrigtsen brothers.]
The most important thing is the athlete. Eliud is a better athlete now than two years ago, and his training has gone great. He has done this kind of event and pacing before. He believes in himself. He thinks the crowds in the park in Vienna will help him; we had no crowds in Italy. It’s very, very hard to run 1:59, but I would say his chances are 50/50, or maybe a little better than that."

Good news, window narrowed down to 12/14th
From weather.com, it looks like the weather is going to be similar those three days.

Start time narrowed down to 5 am - 9 am.
Hope it's not before 7AM. 5AM would be a bit brutal especially for people not located close to the park. Well I suppose they can rent a scooter and zip there ;-)
Given the expected weather conditions and Kipchoge's supposed desire for crowds to cheer him on, that seems like an odd choice of time. I wouldn't have expected anything earlier than 8.
Well it's a Saturday morning ;-)
Since you're local, what would you say the best spot would be to spectate ? I'm not clear on where the finish line will be (the pictures seem to show it on the actual road in the park, not near a roundabout) and whether they'll be running through it on their loops but if they are that would be the spot of choice I suppose.
Anyway the date has now been confirmed to be the 12th with the exact time to be decided on Friday. Some rumors are saying 6.30AM...
The finish line will be near the middle of the course, close to Meiereistraße (the one that leads to the stadium).
Not sure where the best spot to watch will be. There will be two more areas with big screens, one at the Lusthaus and one near the last stop of the #1 tram. Where to go might depend on how many people are there. If it's sparse, I'll probably wander around a bit. Big crowds, probably best to stake out a good spot near the finish line. Also depends on whether those fan zones are gemütlich, or loud and annoying.
They're also going to be setting up a couple pedestrian bridges for crossing the Hauptallee. Those might wind up offering the best views. There's going to be one by Kaiserallee which I may check out.
Hope you find a great spot, and have fun in Vienna!
Thanks for the insight ! In the meantime I thought I'd spotted the arrival where you mention thanks to the video posted on their Twitter feed. I'm staying just a mile away and will be walking/running towards the course/finish in the morning. I might run around there on Friday evening to try to spot these overpasses ans fan zones.. Can't wait !
Well, if you're up for a jog through town today or tomorrow, just say the word. I need to get a couple miles in anyway.
Cheers!
When will we know what time the race is going to start?
They will announce the time for the start of the 41 pacers time trial tomorrow.

As of now the time trial will fall somewhere between 11:00pm Friday night and 3:00am Saturday morning ET.
That's between 5am and 9am in Vienna on Saturday.

Yes, it's a race against the clock. Having pacers is like any other race. The car is for the pacers to stay on time and Kipchoge does the running. You jealous people forget that he's actually running the race, albeit in as ideal conditions as possible. Never heard so much whining from jealous turds.

Poor sweetie pie, you'll be the first one up stairs from Mommies basement watching the race.
@Vienna Local - thanks for the offer ! I won't be in Vienna until late tomorrow evening but you can drop me a line on deathinp AT gmail and I'll get in touch.
@All - look at that team, scary, eh !

I'd take any of these temps and weather for my marathon, but I'd take the 6-8:00 a.m. slot if I was running it.
