Uhh yeah :/ why wouldn’t you consider it sub 4?

If that makes you feel good Spencer, but look in a year and half when you are done with school you will be a nobody, and as far as your running career, it will be a thing of the past. You know you are not good enough to make any kind of living running, and I am 100 percent right in saying that in the Fall of 2020 you will be that dude saying" yeah, I ran a little in school and even had a You Tube Channel, boy thoes were the days". Let's look this thread up in November of 2020 and see if I am right, matter of fact by 2024 you will way over weight (I am saying this since you put on 10pounds in a week of not running) and probably bald replaying your old You Tube Videos and living with you parents. Let's check back then and see if I am right.
You really think I'm this guy and that I came here to pretend to be somebody who has "only heard of him from this site" and somebody who has no interest in his YouTube channel?
If I were him, wouldn't I put up at least some sort of endorsement?
How about this: everybody anonymously attacking a barely- sub-4 guy as crappy: out yourself, link to your superior times. I consider the times listed on his IAAF profile to be very good. I don't consider them great. I don't think he has any chance to become a pro runner unless he is sandbagging to run those times. His times are better than any marks on my IAAF profile. Good for him, I guess, i don't really care because i don't know the guy.
But what is pretty obvious is either you have really high standards because you're so amazing, so post a link, or you know the guy personally and have a chip on your shoulder. Maybe he peed in your soup or something.
Don’t be a hater. It’s a bad look.
No, I have never met a person so full of himself and such a narcissist as Spencer Brown.I mean just look at the title, before I even get started "The Athlete Special" that says it all. He is the definition of what not to be. He is bringing hate from many because not only does he posts about himself on here, or has others post for him, but he rant's on and on about how great he is. The whole Dam show is about how great he thinks he is.
You people realize that a 4:08 on one of tracks that Jim Ryun ran on in 1967 is a sub 4 on today’s tracks? Idiots!

This. Does it start with a 3? If yes, then it's sub 4. If no, then it's not sub 4

Ok, maybe he is what you describe as a person. I was only arguing against the guy who immunerated a bunch of points about how he thinks the guy is a terrible runner, because he was upset somebody called him a "really good runner." I think that is a little ridiculous, sub 4 is really good, IMO, and in the majority of runners' opinions.
I'm not going to defend him as a person, I dont know him or anything about him other than his times reported here.

Wouldn't 3:59 flat and below be considered a true sub 4 mile?
Technically you're a sub-4 miler and will be part of that club. If you can run 4:02 or lower for a mile, you have nothing to be ashamed of. Chances are good that conditions weren't absolutely PERFECT when you ran your 4:00 mile. You have the potential to run under 4:00 but the planets didn't align.
Also, most fast miles are run in the summer in heat. Imagine if more miles were run in the fall in 68 degree Fahrenheit weather. I personally think I can run faster in cooler weather.
I am not Spencer, but I am just pointing out your narcissistic side.
I consider 3:39.94 1500m indicative of ability well under a 3:59 mile.
I honestly think it's funny that the basement dwelling middle aged trolls on LetsRun think that a 22 year old sub 4 miler with a Georgetown degree and nearly 20,000 YouTube subscribers (once he is done in the NCAA that's worth some real money) legitimately gives a flying f*ck what they have to say about him.
Never take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from.

You still up Spencer? I thought you would be asleep by now.
Hey there! You're right, me! I ran a sub 4! I have a YouTube Channel! You outted me! Wow. Impressive.
Goodbye from Spencer!

I only saw his youtube for the first time in the past month but enjoy it (and it is the only running vlog that I watch). It is pretty obvious that he is a sub-4 miler. Maybe the OP should just post a thread saying what they think of Spencer, instead of trying to frame a question as an excuse to do personal attacks?
Yes it would wrote:
Did you know a 3:59.99 is a sub 4 minute mile.
But 3:59.99999999... (infinitely many 9999) is the same as 4:00.
So stick to finite representations and we're safe :)

And a narcissist who gets dead last, loses to high schoolers, and never even stiffed an NCAA Meet, but rather gets DEAD azz last at Regionals.
You guys have too much time on your hands...

Sour grapes man.
Nope, 3:59.97 is not under 4:00.00 at all! I would even say it's OVER.
