An easy run is not a recovery run. They are not the same at all.
A recovery run is a run that takes place after a workout or race and is a way of still getting volume in but not running too fast to prevent RECOVERY from the previous hard run. Some people think it helps healing by getting the blood flow to increase to the muscles but that is a bunch of unproven mumbo jumbo.
An easy run is a typical normal run done at an EASY feeling pace. It can be done everyday without overly taxing the runner to the point where they need a day off, though some runners still should take a day off here or there.
