Oh and I forgot my yearly PSA on the difference between Memorial Day. And Veterans Day as they tend to have people confused these days.

I'm racing a road mile tomorrow, so pulled back on volume the latter half of this week (that's also why Friday's tempo wasn't continuous). This is the first of many road miles I'll be doing this summer, with hopes of PRing that distance (I don't race on the track - the continual turning is very hard on my body).
In other news, I finally got the biopsy results back from my colonoscopy, and they confirmed I have a mild case of ulcerative colitis (emphasis on the mild). So...when I had all that GI trouble back in March, that was an UC flare that has since calmed down. I'm starting on a medication called Rowasa (legal under USADA) that will hopefully avoid future flares. [I'm starting it AFTER my road mile tomorrow, to avoid any risk of side-effects screwing up my race]
Pretty exciting week.
Will have a ~55mi 7 day total tomorrow. 12 mi today with last mile 5:5x. Yoga with girlfriend and then two times to the gym.
Flying to London with my fiance on Tuesday.
Congrats Pewow.
darkwave - Looks like I might be meeting you tomorrow. Swing by the store once the race is over (I will be working, not racing). Good luck and be careful not to get boxed in or cut off.
. . . need to share this wisdom after every engagement anyway:

Is that the excitement? if so, then congrats!
Outsiderunner - will definitely swing by. I'll be the short woman with black hair in a red sports bra or red t-shirt.
I’m right there with you, but I still . . . wrote:

Eff this guy. I'm about 5 drinks deep, grillin' steaks lakeside, listening to Anderson Paak, celebrating my 7 year anniversary reiterating: Congrats Pewow.
darkwave - Great...I am sure I will pick you out easily. I am not much taller (5’6”) and have yet to shave this week (too tired right now). People say that I “look like a runner.”

+1. I’m 3 drinks in and just finished a plate of 15 wings. My better half is in AZ until Wednesday but there isn’t anything I would give to be celebrating her nephew’s HS graduation with her right now.
Congrats pewow. When you find the right woman, you know you don’t want to spend a minute without her.

Don’t doooo it!
Watching you judging you. Look at the baby look at the baby!
Congrats pewow! Being married is the best!
...but also, my in-laws left my home today after several nights so I am ready to run super hard and then not speak to anyone for awhile.

Congrats, pewow! And happy anniversary, GT! Oddly enough, my wife and I are celebrating our seventh anniversary this weekend, too.

Getting back into things...
Positive week in that the heel/PF flareup that took me out last week gradually died down, and I was able to get back to running as the week progressed. Though to be honest, it was more walk/run than run. But things felt pretty good and looking forward to taking the next step.
Have a great week, everybody!
RunGuy - In a friendly way, you're my new rival. Same height and weight. Although you're clearly a lot fitter than me since my current easy pace is about a minute slower. Nice week though. I don't do s*** on my off days. Or lifting. I really need to fix that.
Jewbacca - Good to see you're on the mend. And I'm right there with you when it comes to blowing off a run, feeling guilty, and then doing what you could in that time. That was my Friday this week.
RRR - Nice. And I think there isn't intellectually. I just hate being so damn slow right now. If my easy pace was 8 - 9, then I would be a lot less salty. But an easy pace of 10 just makes everything take so long for not much distance. In my mind, 7 miles in an hour feels massively better than 6. I think it's because between grad school, my commute, homework/research, and my family, I need to cram in as much as I can in my limited time. A faster easy pace would massively help with that.
Darkwave - Awesome week, and glad to hear your GI issues are getting all sorted out. My GI has been a touch screwy since I had that stomach bug. No bueno. Excited to see what you can do in the road miles. The all comer track series is starting in my town in like three weeks. The first couple 400, 800, and 1500s are gonna be ugly. But I'm looking forward to some PRs.
Pewow - You sneaky b@stard, congrats! Have fun in London! I went there after high school with my now wife and I loved it.
GT - Happy anniversary!
Stone - I somehow get what you mean, but I'm cool with skipping crap like that. I love my missus, but I don't love the obligations like that
Guy - Hey, if you don't dislike your in laws a least a bit, I'm not sure you're actually married. My mother in law is a nice woman, but Christ is she annoying
GMFAH - Congrats to you too! I like how we all decided to get married around the same time apparently. My wife and I celebrated 7 years back in January, but properly celebrated with a trip to Hawaii in March.
Now that we're somewhat on the topic of marriage/anniversaries, how long have you all been together total?
I've been married to my wife for 7 years, together for 12 total. Small courthouse wedding in exchange for two honeymoons. The ceremony was presided over by the same guy that married her parents 20 years prior. Reception at The Melting Pot. The only downside was that we were 20 at the time, so we couldn't legally drink at our own reception. Thanks Reagan.
49m ex-runner.
I haven't done much in weeks/months. I even stopped following the thread mostly. From time to time I still do look. Seems like everyone is kicking a$$ as usual.
Allen, my knees still hurt. Mostly because I'm too lazy or not consistent enough to do what needs to be done.
Darkwave, great perspective on racing guys. Personally, I'd never let a woman beat me because she's a female. If one beats me it is because she is better.
Smoove, I got a kick out of your description last week on p2. That is why I was doing intervals last year. Maybe if I ever get back at it I'll try some type of Igoli type training until I can run longer more naturally.
HEY, a Pappy sighting! Whoa. I missed you, brother. Great to hear from you.
Now all we need is an AJ sighting. I miss you, AJ.

Overall kinda stalled on mileage the last three weeks, this slight downweek might be a good opportunity to increase to 65-70 next week.

Ha! No legal drinking, but I assume "legal" was an optional technicality?!
My wife and I met at my first Track Club meeting in a new city. That was in 1997. Our first date was at a little Toronto club immediately after running the marathon. One of our first vacations together was to run Big Sur Marathon. I proposed to her the day I set my masters marathon PR in 2003. Our wedding was July 2, 2004 ... the next day we loaded the kayaks on the car, and headed to Vermont for a running and paddling honeymoon. And today we ran together down Mix Road on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning!

Seems we have much in common. I find time to read through these threads, but for some reason can't commit to a simple exercise routine. I will probably resort to ibuprofen to train for my 15K, then start at square one again.

OR, Glad to see you are keeping at it. I was really happy to see you bag Boston and then decide to run another. I think SC had you in great shape for a PR. Sub 2:50 is still great.
