Lots of threads complain about finisher medals and how big and heavy they have become compared to years gone by. So I decided to go through mine and check out which was the smallest. I had several at 1,1/2 inches diameter and 1/8th thick but the winner was - - - - -
1984 Rutland Water Mini-Marathon: 1-3/8th in diameter and 1/16th thick.
And as bonus category. Narrowest ribbon - - - -
1984 Rutland Water Mini-Marathon (again): 5/16th inch.
For reference a quarter is just over 15/16th diameter and 1/16th thick.
The race was once round Rutland Water, a total of 16.8 miles (we didn't do the Hambleton Peninsula). Back in those days the race lengths were whatever they happened to be on the map. No attempts were made to round them off to a standard distance.
