As I’ve started to cut down the amount of reps my coach still has me do two workouts:
6x1k at CV pace (3:30 for me)
4x200m (800m pace)
and a
60 minute long run
I normally run the 400/800 but can stretch to the mile and not get completely dominated (actually it seems as if I’m a little better at the 1600 than the 400 but the 800m’s my main event. I was wondering if the CV workout and long run is still beneficial to me considering I don’t run the mile much.
Thanks!
perfect! Example Australian 800m runner Luke Matthews a 1:45 runner 4 weeks before Comm games did 8x1k in 3 minutes on grass with 1 min rest
My training group which has 3 runner's under 1:55 do 6x1k on 5 min cycle at just a bit quicker pace. Aerobic fitness is very important for 800m. Our boys run 60-80 minutes but as a sophmore 60 minutes is plenty! Good luck!
