What vape juice do you suggest? I'm thinking of getting started with a pointless addiction that makes me look like a high school girl.

Did you say 4:40??
That’s super fast in my book.
If you’re doing that kind of pace and no bad effects, I’d say you’ve got nothing to worry about. Maybe for some reason you perform better in that state, who the hell knows?
I would only be curious to know if you suffer at all with running in the altitude. Keep doing what works.
Your habit is probably better than me downing 5 shots of espresso every morning. Way better than those guys chugging beers after a 6 mile run. Maybe update us in 5 years. But damn I’ll never be that fast. Maybe you’re the only smart one here, who knows...
You're a slave to the Nicotine lobby. Many, many years ago a similar interest group was facing backlash over health concerns with their product from the general public. In response, they purified it in a lab to eliminate all of the other background components with the goal of making something less addictive so that it could be more readily used in medicine, beverages, etc.. The product they were selling was opium, the so-called less addictive alternative they came up with - heroin. The liquified nicotine product that vaping companies came out with is super addictive, priced at a premium and we really don't know it's long term health effects. So congrats on spending a lot of hard earned money to be their guinea pig. As far as the 4:40 mile is concerned, that is nothing. I was running 4:40 about a month after the first time I ran the mile on a track as a junior in high school off of about 20 miles a week, and that was at altitude. The fact that it takes you 50 miles a week to run that time is even more laughable.

That is 100% not true.
Are you sure? I seem to remember CU having a few guys that were into the weed back in the day and were fast. Didn't one of them get photographed at a 4/20 celebration on Farrand Field, and maybe got kicked off the team?
Smoking pot and then "smoking pot everyday" are two different things. Of course there are people who smoke that are decent runners. But nobody is lighting joints daily and nearly breaking 4. Runners tend to see a teammate do something once or twice at a party and then they jump to "he does that every day"

Actually it 100% is true. You have no idea how many college runners do terrible things to their bodies constantly and still perform well. Genetics can tump lifestyle in a big way.

When I said every day I meant every day. That includes when we were traveling for races. I'm actually stunned how many people think this is ridiculous. Clearly, these people either are not familiar with D1 running. I'm not suggesting that the majority of guys are doing this, they don't. But there are numerous solid college runners who do live this kind of lifestyle.

Which school and year? This is definitely not factual but I'd like to see which school supposedly has multiple guys smoking pot every single day and running 4 flat for the 1 mile (which is only ran indoors in college)
4 flat? more like 4:20 wrote:

I'm not going to start giving the school or year since that would narrow it down to a few potential individuals very quickly. but if you did some sleuthing you could figure out the school and timeframe since I have probably revealed that on Letsrun in the past.
But you're right it was not for an actual mile. I used 1500 equivalents of the mile time. 3:42 to 3:46 guys.
I think your 4:40 is impressive. I also think that you are not seeing or feeling any ill side effects from vaping due to your youth. I bet if you continue to vape, years from now, it will catch up to you.
Out of curiosity, do you still get a buzz? Usually after a few years of nicotine usage, the buzz goes away, but the addiction doesn't. Don't fool yourself into thinking it won't eventually harm you because it will. Either way, its your life.
Congrats on the 4:40. Legit time.
My question would be, why do you vape? Does it taste good? For the nicotine high? Does it look cool? Just curious.

It's so he can fit into his skinny jeans. Once he is off the vape he is going to balloon up by 20# and his mile time is going back over 5:00 (that's the real issue with taking drugs recreationally). As with any stimulant addiction, he will likely develop some cardiac / circulatory issues, plus the unknown side effects that haven't had the research timeframe that we have from cigarettes, alcohol, etc.
I'm not sure why every nicotine addict hasn't moved to Zyn pouches. Pretty much everyone I know that smoked or chewed or vaped has transitioned to Zyn. Nicotine is a horribly hard addiction to break, but it is easy to find relatively cheap alternatives that have fewer negative side effects. And Zyn has two strengths, so you can step down and hopefully eventually get off of nicotine completely. Just like the gums and patches.

It could be, I’ve seen low to mid 4 dudes smoke pot before
you could just be doing better dude. It's like when people say they run well off of 40mpw... they may be running well but they could be doing much better if they were doing 70mpw... same thing with the vaping- you might be doing okay but you could be doing much better, plus it makes you look like a tool bag
Not talking about pot. Nicotine juice. Bit different but yeah, I know Craig Engels smokes or used to smoke in college.
Well you’re already acting like one, so....
Haven’t done much running at altitude but I will update when I do, maybe add to this thread, maybe add a new one.
Bull-f*cking-sh*t lol if that is true you should be a world class miler. Gtfoh.
